⭐ Episode 13 — The Betrayal
Word Count: ~1,700 words
The clock ticked louder than usual.
Twenty‑four hours.
That was all Bella had to find the list before Delgado took her.
Richard loaded the car.
Luke checked the perimeter.
Elise studied Bella’s notebook.
Bella’s mother packed food and water.
Maya whispered prayers under her breath.
But something felt wrong.
Bella felt it first — a heaviness in the air, a tension that didn’t come from Delgado’s threats or the ticking clock.
It came from inside the house.

⭐ Elise Notices
Elise stood near the window, watching the street. Delgado’s car was gone — but she didn’t relax.
She turned to Bella. “Something’s off.”
Bella frowned. “What do you mean?”
Elise stepped closer. “Delgado knew too much. He knew you were searching for the list. He knew you were leaving tonight. He knew about the school.”
Bella’s stomach tightened. “But how?”
Elise whispered, “Someone told him.”
Bella froze.
Luke overheard. “Elise… what are you saying?”
Elise looked at him. “There’s a traitor.”
Bella’s breath caught. “No… no, that can’t be true.”
Elise nodded. “I wish it wasn’t.”
⭐ The Hidden Phone
Bella walked toward the living room, her heart pounding. Something pulled her toward the sofa — a strange instinct she couldn’t explain.
She lifted the cushion.
A phone lay underneath.
Not hers.
Not Luke’s.
Not Richard’s.
A phone she had never seen before.
Bella whispered, “Luke…”
Luke rushed over. “What is it?”
Bella handed him the phone.
It was still warm.
Still unlocked.
Still showing a message.
Luke read it aloud:
“They’re leaving now.”
Bella’s knees weakened. “No…”
Elise grabbed the phone. “This was sent to Delgado.”
Richard froze. “Who sent it?”
Elise turned the screen toward them.
The sender’s name appeared clearly.
Bella gasped.
Maya dropped the bag she was holding.
Bella’s mother covered her mouth.
Luke whispered, “No way…”
Richard’s voice cracked.
“Tita Lani?”
⭐ The Room Explodes
Bella shook her head violently. “No… no, she wouldn’t…”
Elise whispered, “She did.”
Bella’s mother cried, “Lani… why?”
Richard stormed toward the hallway. “Where is she?!”
Bella grabbed his arm. “Richard, wait!”
But Richard didn’t stop.
He found Tita Lani in the kitchen, sitting at the table, hands trembling, eyes red.
She didn’t look surprised.
She looked defeated.
Richard slammed the phone on the table. “Explain.”
Tita Lani closed her eyes. “I’m sorry.”
Bella whispered, “Tita Lani… why?”
Tita Lani looked at her — and Bella saw the truth in her eyes.
Pain.
Fear.
Regret.
And guilt.
⭐ The Confession
Tita Lani took a shaky breath.
“I didn’t want to betray you,” she whispered. “I wanted to protect you.”
Bella trembled. “Protect me? By telling Delgado where we’re going?”
Tita Lani cried softly. “He threatened me.”
Richard growled, “He threatened all of us.”
Tita Lani shook her head. “Not like this.”
Bella’s mother stepped forward. “Lani… what did he say?”
Tita Lani looked at her.
“He said he would hurt Bella if I didn’t tell him where she was going.”
Bella’s breath caught. “So you told him?”
Tita Lani nodded, tears falling. “I thought… if he knew where you were, he wouldn’t come here. He wouldn’t hurt the family. He wouldn’t break in again.”
Elise whispered, “He manipulated you.”
Tita Lani nodded. “Yes. And I let him.”
Bella’s heart shattered. “Tita Lani… you promised to protect me.”
Tita Lani sobbed. “I know. And I failed.”
⭐ The Deeper Truth
Luke stepped forward. “Why didn’t you tell us he contacted you?”
Tita Lani looked down. “Because I was ashamed.”
Richard clenched his fists. “You should have told us.”
Tita Lani nodded. “I know.”
Elise crossed her arms. “Delgado didn’t just threaten you. He offered you something.”
Tita Lani froze.
Bella frowned. “What did he offer?”
Tita Lani hesitated.
Then she whispered:
