“Daddy!” my daughter screams running towards me with tears in her eyes.
I drop the woman’s hands before lifting my daughter into my arms.
“It’s okay, baby. Stop crying,” I say wiping her eyes.
I eventually manage to get her to stop. Then I place her back on the ground.
“Sunshine, can you head to the car? I need to have a conversation with this ‘woman’ here.”
I make sure to say the word woman with as much scorn as possible. The said woman scoffs at that.
“Okay, daddy. Bye, Sky,” Shine says to the other boy with hair as disarranged as hers.
“Bye,” the boy replies with glee.
The woman’s mouth drops open.
“Weren’t the two of you fighting just now?” she asks the kids.
“So?” her son asks.
The woman merely shakes her head full of brown curls.
“Unbelievable,” she mutters.
