“Wait here while I go get Sunshine,” I tell Maya.

“Sure thing, your highness,” she quips.

Her uncanny ability to grate on my nerves and amuse me in the same breath never ceases to surprise me. What did surprise me was her efficiency at work today. She was great. I was sort of expecting her to be a great worker, given the stellar reviews from Ryan but even then I was blown away by her patience and kindness to everyone else.

She showed people into my office with grace and even when one particular man was causing a ruckus, she handled it all on her own without any help. She spoke when needed and was generally quiet when it was necessary. All qualities of a great secretary. She might even be better than my former secretary and that’s saying a lot. I’ll just have to wait and see how…
