I should be in court right now with Richard. Not here in the office with Ryan trying to pacify a disgruntled customer. We manage to calm the woman down. She’s a VIP that claims to have been rudely spoken to by one of our employees. She was threatening to sue and take her business elsewhere but Ryan and I have taken care of that.

Once she leaves, I fall back into the seat in Ryan’s office.

“I’m sure it’s going well,” Ryan assures me.

Although there’s an equally worried expression on his face.

“He should have called me by now,” I say nervously. “I couldn’t sleep last night, so I googled the statistics of fathers getting full custody and it was really low, Ryan. And that’s for biological fathers!” I say in frustration.

“I know, Maya. We all know this but we have to hold out hope.”
