Jodi Sta. Maria will channel Rihanna during Be Careful’s concert at the Big Dome Rea
Lead stars Richard Yap and Jodi Sta. Maria are undaunted despite negative feedback about the “indefinite” extension of ABS-CBN’s daytime soap Be Careful With My Heart. Some viewers have expressed disappointment since they have gotten tired of the show’s “dragging” plot. In response to these negative comments, Jodi calmly stated: “Alam mo, napakasimple lang naman, e. We really can’t please everybody. I think kailangan lang mas focused kami sa mga mas nakaka-appreciate ng show.” Richard agreed with his leading lady and said that they’d rather dwell on the overwhelming support of Kapamilya viewers than feel bad because of detractors. “I think mas marami kami natutulungan kaysa naaapakan. Wala naman yata kaming naaapakan. Yung mga nagrereklamo, they can always turn the channel. We are not forcing them to watch. You can just watch another show,” he firmly stated.
Despite the intrigues, the 47-year-old entrepreneur-turned-actor explained that there’s a sense of fulfillment in knowing that the soap opera has touched the lives of countless viewers. “There’s a lady who wrote me. Her husband passed away. Feeling niya gusto niya ng sumama. She had no more hope left in life. “When she started watching Be Careful With My Heart, bumalik yung zest niya for life. So, she wrote me a thank you note just to tell me that we inspire her. That was very touching. I saw her. Nagkita kami,” he fondly recalled. JODI AND RICHARD AT THE BIG DOME. With this in mind, ABS-CBN is staging a free concert for avid fans of Be Careful With My Heart. It will be held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on July 25, Friday. When asked if fans can expect Jodi to pull off Beyonce-type of production numbers, the 32-year-old actress merely laughed and said: “Ihuhulma pa rin siya sa story ng Be Careful, but we can perform as ourselves. Pero para may hint lang, [yung isa sa mga numbers ko] Rihanna song siya.” She added that the talented G-Force will surely come up with exciting dance numbers for the concert. Richard, on the other hand, got ribbed by the press whether or not he’d perform a sexy number in order to show his abs.
“Kapag mahanap ko yung abs ko,” he exclaimed with a laugh. “I’ll be singing more Tagalog songs this time. I’ll have production numbers with Jodi and Aiza [Seguerra]. Hopefully, matuwa yung viewers.” Richard admitted that the chance to perform at the Big Dome, which has a seating capacity of more than 15,000, is truly a dream come true for him.
“Like sinabi ni Jodi, I think it’s everybody’s dream. Kapag nasa Araneta ka na, you’ve arrived. Of course, we’re happy to be there. We’re happy that we’re doing a thanksgiving show for everybody who wants to watch.”
