614 Nov. 18, 2014- A big blessing is about to land on LAI. Ano kaya itong magandang balita ni Richard para kay Maya at sa pamilya?

Gap 1
– Joni starts working at LAI. Luke comes into the office and Joni greeted him as Mr. Lim. Pareho lang daw sila ng position, so Luke na lang. Hindi nag-uusap pero parati ang sulyapan ang dalawa. Sabay umuwi at parehong naghihintay ng masasakyan si Joni at Luke. Luke asked Joni why she applied. She said she saw on FB that LAI is hiring and she has always believed in Mr. R. Lim’s vision. And instead of working elsewhere, she might might as well work here so she can use what she has learned in school at para makatulong. Joni admits that she made a harsh decision (iyong cool off nila). Hindi nya naisip na may iba pang paraan para mag-work out ang relationship nila katulad ng ginagawa niya ngayon. Alam daw niya nasaktan niya si Luke at hindi siya nag-e-expect na magkabalikan sila agad-agad. May dumating ng taxi at sumakay silang sabay. Agawan na naman sa taxi at nagtatalo na naman kung sino ang naunang pumara at kukuha sa taxi. Naalala nila ang unang meeting nila. Tuloy pa rin ang pagtatalo. Nainis ang driver at pinababa silang dalawa.
– At home, Luke and Dad talking about the acquiring training planes. Ang mahal pala at hindi kaya pa. In the background, you can hear the twins, especially Sunshine, playing. May nag-doorbell and Luke went out to check. Sila Amiel pala na nag-aayang magbasketball. Ayaw ni Luke.
Doorbell uli at lumabas si Luke uli inaakalang kinukulit siya ni Amiel. Buhat sa labas, tinawag ni Luke ang Dad niya. Ito na yong delivery of the receipt for three Cessna 172 airplanes. Tinanong ni Maya kung bumili na si Ricky noong training planes? Hind si Ricky ang bumili kundi si Mama and Papa.
Gap 2
– Scrapbooking si Maya. Ricky on the phone with Ma and Pa. DR said that he is sure kukulangin ng training planes ang LAI dahil sigurado siya na Ricky will succeed. Please do not refuse it, sabi ni DR, pagbigyan mo na kami ng Papa mo. Maliit lang naman daw ito (wow maliit pa pala itong tulong na ito). DR advised Ricky that he should just not let LAI succeed in the pilot license courses, but also on aircraft maintenance courses. Remember diyan sinira ng board of directors ng LAS ang pangalan mo kaya kailangan isama mo sa pagbangon mo. Ricky is very grateful to his parents. GV na uli si Ricky. Ang sarap ng ngitian ng mag-asawa.
– At LAI, nagkakailangan si Joni at Luke. Kapag nag-usap, trabaho ang topic. Ricky asking his staff for help on posting on their FB page to advertise their aircraft maintenance courses and posting an ad at another site that they are looking for a aircraft junior maintenance instructors.
– Minerva came into Ricky telling him that they already have applicants. But Ricky said he has not seen any resume in his email. Mga walk-ins po, sabi ni Minerva. Sino pa kundi si Engr Y, Gutierrez, Sonny, Santiago, and Alva. Kamusta kayo? Eto, Sir, wala ng trabaho. Magulo na raw LAS, at buhat ng umalis si Chief, maraming na rin umalis at maraming new hires. Tapos parang unfair daw ang mga benefits, eh halos wala namang ginagawa. Maraming complaints ang clients kasi si nagtaas ng service fee si Celeste at hindi pa sumusunod sa kasunduan. Sonny heard that clients wants to pull out of LAS. Ricky asked what Celeste said when they resigned. Nagalit daw sa kanila. Hindi nila sinabi na pupunta sila sa LAI, pero tingin nila alam na nya iyon.
– You and me time sa front steps ng bahay nila. Ricky: Hindi ko alam ko kung kukunin sila, sweetheart. They have all the qualifications I need, but it would not feel right, especially after what I heard about LAS. But then again it would not feel right if i turn them down. What should I do? Maya: Sa totoo lang, sweetheart, ikaw lang ang makakasagot niyan. Kung iniisip mo si Celeste and her feelings, eh hindi mo naman sila pinirate si Mr. Yamaguchi. Siya ang kusang pumunta sa iyo. Ricky: So, I should hire them. Maya just shrugged her shoulders. Ricky: It would be nice to see familiar faces in the institute.
Gap 3
– At LAI, may mga trainees, about 10. Instructors na sila Engr Y at Gutierrez. They took the trainees to the hangar for maintenance teaching on the training planes. Ricky said he will follow them. Ayan may appearance ang V-neck T. Na-miss daw ni Ricky ang tumulong mag-repair ng plane. Nagpaalam si Ricky sa mga instructors niya dahil susunduin pa si Maya.
– Engr Y alerted Chief when he saw Celeste in their facility. NakiBiglang dating si C. Hindi napigil ni Minerva ang pagpasok ni C sa LAI. As Celeste approached Ricky, Engr Y and the other instructors exited.
Celeste: Ang ganda ng campus. This is exactly what you have envisioned. Congratulations, Richard.
Richard: Why did you come here Celeste?
Celeste: Please come back to LAS.

Gap 4
Celeste: I admit. Nahihirapan akong i-manage ang company. Some people, they want me to step down.
Richard: But I am already managing this institute.
Celeste: You can be our consultant, if you want. I know medyo nahihirapan din itong LAI. We can help each other. You can be our consultant. Come back. And kapag naging OK na ulit ang kumpanya, I promise you we will do everything that we can to support this institute.
Richard: Don’t you think it is a little bit late for that.
Celeste: Look, I know i have done so many bad decisions in the past. I regret them. Ano pa ba ang gusto mong makita? Natuluyan ng bumagsak ang LAS. Is that what you want?
Richard: (Angrily) Of course not and I don’t want hearing this from you either. Alam ko maliit lang ang tingin ninyo sa LAI as of now, but all of us who are involved in this institute, kasama na ang pamilya ko, we are doing our best to make this succeed. Kahit na affected ang LAI sa pagkasira ng pangalan ko when you fired me as CEO of LAS.
Celeste: Richard, just please forgive us. I’m so sorry.
Richard: I already have Celeste. Matagal na. I don’t want to hold grudges dahil mas lalo akong mahihirapang bumangon. But I am frustrated to see you like this. You are the new CEO of LAS. Prove to me that you are worthy to take my place.
Celeste: I should go. (Oo nga, uwe. Buti nga sayo. Behlat).

Minerva being the Executive Assistant still has the job to oversee the administrative staff so she gives Joni a reminder to be sure the training manuals included the rules and regulations for the flight simulator. (Wow it really sounds technical and believable [thumb]) Joni said ok. She is just happy to be there and working. Her intent is of course, as we all could tell, is two-fold and more. She is there so that she could work at a decent place where she could potential advance to full time and even plan a career from everything she would learn from this job. Secondly, she hopes that this might bring her closer to Luke whom she missed a lot since she decided to be on a “cool off” stage in their relationship. This will also allow them time to see each other often and work with each other. It seems a perfect solution to the problem her and Luke had before.
After Minerva left, Luke walked in the office. “Good morning Mr. Lim.” Joni said. “Good morning.” Luke replied. “We hold the same position here so just call me Luke.” he added. So the side glances and look behind starts. The hidden smiles and kilig between the two. However they are much quieter than when they were interns and they acted more professional…a little awkward maybe but just a hair.
After work, Joni left the building to go home. Luke followed her out of the gate of the institute. They stand at the edge of the driveway. Finally Luke spoke. “Why did you think of applying?” Luke asked. “I saw it on FB for hiring. I have always believed in Mr. Lim’s vision and instead of working at different odd jobs, I might as well apply here where I could use what I learned in school…… and so I could help. When we separated I realized that I was a bit too quick in making a decision and that there are other ways that our relationship could work; like this. I should have done this a long time ago. Then I could have helped sooner.” Joni has a long explanation to Luke’s question. But she is not done yet. “I know I hurt you and that is why I don’t expect for you to come back to me immediately so please just let me do this.” Joni added. Luke didn’t say a word. He just looked away. He is definitely chewing what Joni said.
When a cab passed by, the two looked at the direction where it was coming from. “There’s a cab.” Joni said. It isn’t clear who waved what but both started to get in the cab. Luke took the front and Joni took the back seat. When Joni closed the door to the back Luke turned around to look at her. “I saw the cab first?” Joni said in a questioning way. “I thought you hailed it for me.” Luke said. “Do you think I am such a gentleman to hail a cab for you?” Joni asked sarcastically. “Sorry I thought your preference for a mode of transportation is a jeepney.” Luke replied. “Mr. Lim do you see a jeep passing through here? And besides Haji said for me to hurry home.” Joni said. (Pssst Joni…not on this street but if you walked about 25 steps to the corner, there is plentiful of Jeepneys there, bus and all kinds of cab that you and Luke would not fight over one. Just saying. [confused][tongue][rolleyes]) “Is that so? Ok I will just get off this cab.” Luke replied. But Joni insists that she get out of the cab so Luke could have it. But Luke insists as well that he is going to get out. “Are you going to argue with me again?” Joni asked. “Argue?” Luke wondered what she meant. “When we first met.” Joni replied. Luke looked away to think. He had a flashback of the first day they met when they fought over a cab. “You really love to fight over a cab.” Luke said. “Who me? You are the one.” Joni replied. By this time the cab driver is getting perturbed with all this arguing and talking back and forth. He looked at the two of them and with his glossed eyes he looked at both of them following their banter back and forth…”You”…”Not me but you” kind of thing [eek][rofl][crazy]. When he couldn’t take it anymore he had to say something. “Why don’t both of you just get out. You two are bothering me.” The cab driver said. “Hurry up and get out.” He added. “Sorry Manong. I am getting out now if you could please drive her.” Luke said. “That’s ok. I will just get out.” Joni told the driver. When Luke started to tell Joni he is going to get out, the cab driver once more said for both to leave. “Go the both of you.” He said. Joni and Luke both got out of the cab. The got out as well as Joni. They stood back where they were both standing before while the cab drove away. Joni was trying hard not to laugh at what just happened. Luke remained quiet. (Bwahaha I thought that was funny.[rofl] And that is why I even captured the cab driver.)

Back at the house, Richard and Luke were online checking out single engine Cessna’s for the institute. They needed more training planes to get the Time Airways account. 2.5 million for Cessna 172. (My daughter would probably be able to get you a discount on a slightly used or rebuilt Cessna 172. It is what she puts together at her job. ha ha But you have to come and buy it in America. They take American Express Mr. Lim and it isn’t in the millions I don’t think. [cool]) “I don’t think we can afford it son.” Richard said. Luke took his calculator and calculated three would cost over 5 million. They kept looking down the line for a more affordable plane. Richard is looking for a bargain deal.
At this time, the door bell rang. Maya got up. She was just in the living room sitting with the twins. She told Doris she is going to get the door but Luke said he is going to check for his Mom. But he quickly came back in. He told Richard it was just Amiel and the other barkadas. They want to know if Luke wants to play basketball. Richard was surprised that Luke didn’t go but Luke’s priority is the institute so he decided to stay. Richard appreciated him. But after a few more minutes, here comes the door bell again. Thinking it is his friends again, Luke went back down to get the gate. Then not too long after, Richard heard Luke call for him. Richard went quickly and followed by Maya.
At the door was a delivery person wanting Richard Lim’s signature on a delivery notice. After Luke closed the gate behind him, Richard opened the notice and read it allowed so Maya and Luke could hear. “Receipt for purchase for Lim Aviation Institute of three Cessna 172 airplanes. ” Richard read. (That would be 7.5 Million please! Would it be on your American Express or your Personal check or would you like to pay cash? You could come to the Cessna Showroom nearest you. [thumb]) “Sweetheart you bought already?” Maya was surprised because just a minute ago they are still browsing the internet. Now there is a receipt right in their hands. “I didn’t buy it Sweetheart.” Richard said. “But who?” Maya asked. Richard looked at the letter to direct Maya to it. “When do we fly these planes to LAI son? love Mama and Papa.” the letter read. Maya was so surprised. “Wow!” Is all Maya could say. Richard gave a megawatt gorgeous smile and Luke was extremely happy. (And I am crying for joy. Richard Lim does not have to spend a penny for the additional planes that he needed. He has now tapped into the Time Airways training center. Good job Richard Lim and thank you Don Roberto and Dona Esmeralda. [angel][wave])
That evening, Maya sat on her bed working on her scrapbook. Richard was on the phone with his Mama and Papa. “I don’t know what to say Ma..Pa.” Richard said. “Son I am sure LAI is going to need more planes because I am sure you will succeed.” Don Roberto said. “And please do not refuse it. Just allow myself and your Papa. We feel so useless because you refused help with the house and even in establishing your new business. This is just a small thing.” Dona Esmeralda said. “No Ma this is not a small thing and I do appreciate it. Thank you both.” Richard replied. “And you are always most welcome son.” Don Roberto said lovingly but he has more to say. “And son…don’t allow LAI to succeed only in the pilot license courses. I also want you to thrive in the aircraft maintenance courses. Remember that your name was tarnished by the Board of Directors of LAS so you must include that in your rebuilding efforts.” Don Roberto said. Richard heard his father. “Of course Pa. Thank you so much. I love you both.” Richard said. The Senior Lims told Richard they love him just before they hung up the phone. Richard’s heart was overwhelmed with love from his parents. Everything is slowly falling into place. The loss of two students from abroad is now replaced with an entire fleet of pilots from Time Airways thanks to the gift from his parents. Richard sat on the bed in front of Maya and watched his wife work on her scrapbook. They didn’t say a word to each other. But the smile on their faces as they looked and touched each other is priceless. (I remember the look on Dona Esmeralda’s face when they left to go back to China during their last visit. She was so sad that Richard wouldn’t accept help from them. Until the drive to the airport she was nagging Don Roberto to make Richard accept their help. But Don Roberto told her not to worry because they will find a way to help him….and so Don Roberto’s timing couldn’t be any more perfect.[biggrin])

At the LAI office, Luke gives a list of potential schools that may contact them for some information to the other administrative staff. Joni gives the other clerk to encode a file for Minerva. Busy with their individual tasks, Joni asked Luke if there is a scholarship program? Luke told Joni not at this time but if they leave their contact information they may try to reach them once the scholarship program begins. At this time, Richard walks in the door. He gathered up all the clerks led by Luke and Joni. He told them to post on FB a status update advertising aircraft maintenance courses. He also wants this info posted on Jobshops and Fill.jobs an ad looking for aircraft maintenance instructors. He hands Luke the folder with the qualifications for the posting. (Richard acted on Don Roberto’s request very quickly. He values his father’s suggestion.)
Minerva knocks on Richard’s office. She tells Richard that there are applicants for the maintenance instructors that he is looking to hire. Richard said that he didn’t receive a siingle resume on his email. Minerva said that they are walk-ins. Richard told her to let them in. The first one in the door has a familiar sounding voice. Richard stood up and was pleasantly surprised. “Engr. Yamaguchi, Gutierrez, Sonny, Santiago, Alba…” Richard shook all their hands. “How are all of you?” He asked. “Here we are Sir. We are out of a job.” Sonny said. “Don’t tell me you followed Minerva?” Richard teased. Sonny looked behind him to Minerva and the two started laughing. Engr. Yamaguchi said that it is hard to stay at LAS. It is too crazy he said. Richard asked what is going on? “There are a lot of people who left sir because since you left, they added new employees but the benefits are unfair. They are not doing anything just always relaxing.” Alba said. Richard nodded. “There are a lot of clients who were complaining because Ma’am Celeste increased the service fee and they are not in compliance with their agreement.” Gutierrez said. “A lot of clients are threatening to pull out. In fact I heard even Time Airways.” Sonny said. “What did Celeste say when you resigned?” Richard asked. “She got mad but she told us to go ahead and resign if we want.” Engr. Yamaguchi said. “Does she know this is where you are are going?” Richard asked. “We didn’t tell her but I am sure she knows.” Sonny said. Richard just shook his head. [rolleyes]

That evening Richard and Maya sit on the steps in front of the house and drink their coffee. They talk about the LAS employees. Richard tells Maya that he isn’t sure if he is going to hire them. “They have all the qualifications I need but it wouldn’t feel right especially after I heard what’s happening with LAS.” Richard said before he paused. “But then again…it wouldn’t feel right if I turned them down.” Richard has conflicting feelings. Maya chuckled and scratched her head. “What is it really Sweetheart?” Maya asked. Richard shrugged his shoulder. “What should I do?” He asked is wife again. “You know what? You are the only one who could answer that. But if you are thinking about Celeste and how she would feel, remember that you did not take Engr. Yamaguchi away from her. He is the one who voluntarily came to you.” Maya has a point. (And she is so nice to say that because if Richard asks me? I would say screw her. Take Yamaguchi. Take them all. [tongue][mad][biggrin]) Richard nodded again. He gets Maya’s point. “So I should hire them?” He asked. Maya shrugged her shoulders. She told him he is the only one who could make that decision. Richard gave himself another minute to think of the right decision. “It would be nice to see familiar faces at the institute.” Richard suggested not so much to Maya but to himself…his form of justifying where his heart is leading him to. Maya smiled and rubbed his back. She knows what is in Richard’s heart. The two sipped their coffee.

At the institute, the Engr. Instructors led by Yamaguchi and Gutierrez walk the Pilot Trainees of Time Airways in a single file like soldiers. (I am just assuming because they look like pilots in their uniforms. It’s a wild guess.) They stop in front of the stairs by the flight simulators. Engr. Yamaguchi with his thick accent explains to the pilots that what’s in front of them is the airbus 823 flight simulator. He points at Gutierrez to explain. I would think it would be better so the pilots don’t have to sift through his thick accent. (Now I know how I sound like to my neighbors and American friends [biggrin]) Gutierrez explains that the simulator is like actually flying the plane. But before he finished the rest of the explanation, Richard walked right in the middle of the Pilots and the Engineers. He asks if the class is over? Engr. Yamaguchi said they are done and they are on their way to the hangar to maintenance some training planes. Richard nodded. He told them to wait for him there and he would join them shortly. The group walked upstairs.

In between flights, Maya talk to Richard. He told Maya that he helped fix the training planes. Maya was surprised. He said it is just a minor repair. “You missed it didn’t you?” Maya asked. “Yes. It has been a few months since I helped repair a plane.” Richard said. Maya thought that if Richard was busy then instead of him picking her up, she told him she would be the one to come to the institute. But Richard said it is ok and that they are almost done. He should be leaving to come get her very soon. They said their ILY’s just before hanging up the phone. Richard told the engineers that he has to go to pick up Maya. “Ok Chief.” Engr. Yamaguchi said.
But while Richard’s back was to the door, he didn’t see who’s coming. The Engr. reacted and that is why he turned. He was surprised to see Celeste being escorted by Minerva toward him. “I am sorry Sir but Ms. Celeste came straight here. I tried to call you but your phone was busy.” Minerva explained. Richard looked at Celeste. She gave him a faint smile. From the look on Celeste’s face she was not surprised to see Yamaguchi and Gutierrez in their LAI uniform. In fact she didn’t even say a word to them or even look at them. The Engr’s felt the same way toward her. They too didn’t even acknowledge her presence. But she continued to complement Richard on the institute. “What a beautiful campus. This is exactly what you have envisioned. Congratulations Richard.” Celeste said. Richard placed his arms across his chest. It is as if he is saying to Celeste that she is in his territory. This is his kingdom. Yes I like seeing Richard flex his muscles here where she or her Board of Directors can not destroy him or kick him out. Here Richard Lim rules. He doesn’t have much to say to her so he goes straight to the point. “Why did you come here Celeste?” Richard asked.

She took a deep breath and let it all out before she answered. “Please come back to LAS.” Celeste said. Richard’s eyebrows met. But he is stoic. He just stared at Celeste. She waited patiently for his reply. But he didn’t say anything. “I admit I am having a hard time managing the company. Some people they want me to step down.” Celeste said. Richard wants to know her plans. “But I am already managing this institute.” Richard said. “You can be our consultant if you want. I know that LAI is also having a hard time taking off so let’s help each other. You can be our consultant. Come back. When our company stabilizes, I promise you we will do everything that we can to support this institute.” Celeste said. (Baloney! or Bologna! She is full of it. That offer is for the birds honey. You are looking at a huge hawk. To lure him in, you have to put out more. Promises are forgotten based on your most recent action Peste. You can’t fool Richard Lim twice. [tounge2]) “I know I have made so many bad decisions in the past. I regret it. What do you want to see? That LAS completely goes bankrupt? Is that what you want?” Celeste said. (Tse! You are so rude.) “Of course not.” Richard replied. One could tell from the tone of his voice that he is upset from what Celeste said thinking that he wants to see LAS fall. “And I don’t like hearing this from you either.” Richard said. “I know you guys think LAI as just a small business now but all of us who are involved in this institute…including my family; we are doing our best to make this succeed even if LAI is affected when my reputation was tarnished after you and the Board fired me as CEO of LAS.” Richard said with conviction. (Yep I could almost see spit come out of his mouth and smoke come out of his ears as he talked.) Celeste looked down. She couldn’t look him in the eye. “Richard just please forgive us. I’m so sorry.” Celeste begged him. She knew how hurt Richard was and also his family specially after talking to Maya. But what Richard said was a surprise to Celeste. “I already have forgiven you Celeste…a long time ago. I don’t want to hold grudges because it would be harder for me to get up and rebuild. But I am frustrated to see you like this. You are the new CEO of LAS. Prove to me that you are worthy to take my place.” Richard challenged Celeste. Her eyes were welling up and if she let her emotions get in the way…her guilt…her desperation she might show Richard defeat. She tried to save herself. After a few deep breaths she spoke again. “I should go.” She said. Richard Lim looked away. He knew his words cut through her heart but it had to be said. She turned around and walked away. Richard looked to her direction and followed her with his eyes. He couldn’t believe what just happened.
