“Our nanny made us s’mores,” Sunshine’s voice says on the phone.
“Yeah and it was really good. Better than mommy’s,” Sky chimes in.
“And for that young man, I’m never making you s’mores again,” Maya says.
Sky’s quiet for the fraction of a second.
“Am I on speaker phone?” he asks quietly.
“Yep,” I answer the little guy.
“Ooh, Sky’s in trouble,” Sunshine teases. “You’ll make me s’mores, right, Maya?” she questions.
“Of course, sweetheart,” Maya answers with a smile.
“I’m sorry, Mommy,” Sky says sadly.
“Don’t worry, little guy. She’s kidding,” I quickly assure him.
“I’m not,” Maya mouths at me, I glare in response.
“How was school?” I ask the kids.
“I had dance class today and swim practice,” Sunshine answers.
“I had to wait for her for hours,” Sky groans.
“It wasn’t even that long,” she says dismissively.
