yes! Nikki came through and talked to lola about her call for help. So clear na about that part….though for Dona Esmeralda, it still rankles with her that Abby was allowed to play in the rain. Maybe due to boredom, she finds it easy to criticize like Manang Fe not being able to decide about the kids because she waits for Sir Chief’s decisions. Now Maya overhears in the teaser, because now Abby is really sick (flu kaya). Just surprised kasi hindi pa quarantined si Doris considering she kept on sneezing and her eyes are already showing signs of not being well. Maya has acquired a lot of confidence because of her being an FA, topping it with her can do attitude…..she might assert herself in taking care of Abby, para bumaba ang lagnat. Sir Chief, united front dapat……
Finally, Cho’s predicament is being shown again, hopefully for resolution na. Kute, sundan mo na ang anak mo sa school, mag usisa ka naman.
Maya: Hello! Ser Chief ko buti tumawag ka heto magdadala sana ako ng mga fruits diyan para sa dinner. Ano bang gusto ng parents mo meron dito papaya may pakwan may pineapple, may grapes, apple may oranges.
SC: Ah Maya about that…
Maya: Ah bakit hindi ba sila kumakain ng prutas?
SC: No..no it’s not that, it’s just that ah would you mind if we postpone the dinner.
Napagod kasi sina Ma and she wanted to ask if you could postpone the dinner to tomorrow.
In the meantime, Maya, remember to tell yourself what you always do…”Maya, kaya mo ‘to”. I’m certain the writers have another twist in store to calm us down.
Maya: Naku! Ah ganun ba?
SC: Ah it’s no big deal Maya napagod lang talaga sila sa biyahe nothing more.
Maya: Ok lang ok lang wala naman problema, eh ganun talaga napagod sila hayaan mo na lang muna makapagpahinga.
SC: Magdinner na lang tayo just the two of us. I can be there anytime just tell me
kung saan kita susunduin?
Maya: Hindi na muna Ser Chief samahan mo na lang muna ang Mama at Papa mo kadarating palang naman nila dito di ba? Huwag kang mag-alala may kasama naman ako dito, si Emman.
mukhang boto naman ang dad ni SC kay maya because she is good influence on the whole family. it is his mom that i am worried about talaga. since she thinks that SC did a good job on how he raised his kids, i hope that she does have a good sense of right and wrong. i think she is just over-protective like SC. i hope that a little rain won’t be the reason for SC’s mom not to like Maya. She should look at the whole over-all situation of the family. They are so much better than before because of Maya. Palagay ko ang dapat sisihin sa lagnat ni Abby is Doris. lol! kailangan din ni Abby to build her immunity sa sakit. actually, the heat from the fever is supposed to help kill the virus daw.
if SC’s mom doesn’t like Maya, okay lang kasi she isn’t going to live with them naman. lol! everyone in the mansion is living in harmony without his parents. it would be really nice if his parents do accept their relationship whole-heartedly. now that i think of it, i would also be very protective of my kids. i would be using my hawkeyes once they bring their potential spouses. lol! i just hope that Maya wins them over like all the rest.
SC: It’s perfectly alright.
Maya: It’s perfectly okay lang.
SC: Why are we stresssing ourselves over this?
SC: It’s just dinner.
Maya: Eh kasi naman parang nagiguilty ka na hindi tayo natuloy.
SC: Eh kasi parang dissappointed ka eh.
Maya: Hindi nga sabi ko nga sa’yo ok lang eh, ayy! Siyanga pala bukas field reserve ako, so kailangan kong magstay sa airport hanggang gabi maliban na lang kung may emergency at maaga-aga akong papalit.
SC: Ahh gusto mo ipostpone na lang natin to the next day?
Maya: Naku! Hindi na wag na muna Ser Chief ko, di bale bukas by lunch time kung wala pa rin na assign na kapalit ko itext kita.
SC: Ok, ah so ano dinner tayo?
Maya: Ikaw talaga ang kulit mo, kami na lang muna ni Emman ang magdidate tonight.
SC: So, you’re pushing me away now?
Maya: Sige na…goodnight Ser Chief, bye!

Abby is showing sign of independence at an early age. She did not go along with her grandma’s wish to not ever play in the rain again. Also, she even went to school the next day when in fact she had fever or sniffling the night before……..She definitely has a mind of her own. Sir Chief mentioned from previous epi that Abby is learning or beginning to argue just like Maya. Atty Maya has now an associate (Abby).
Cute the way SC said “No” when Maya asked if he is jealous with George, the guy who asked for her phone number. It is kind a sweet the two lovebirds has open communication, honest to each other, very secure on their feelings especially with a “third party” that can affect any relationship. Ser Chief had done that before with Catherine/Hannah.
I like that idea. They should hang their shingles to read: LIM AND DELA ROSA, ATTORNEYS-AT-LAW. O, di ba bagay? Who knows the creative team might just read your thread and take off with your idea.
I was just thinking, if we joined their first names together, it would sound like Ave Maria. ha ha ha.

THE THINGS THAT MATTER
Life without doubt is a walk to remember. As we journey down the road of life there are countless events we consider Milestones of Life. There’s always something going on around us; some major, some aren’t, some met with fanfare, while some come and go unnoticed but just as significant and worth reminiscing. It’s likely for us to focus on the bigger things in our lives as they give us the direction that sets the course of our life’s journey. Despite the importance these big events give, it’s the little things that truly define us. But more often than not, these smaller milestones in life that go unnoticed bring so much joy and happiness; smiles, tears even.
Maya kept little mementos of the good times as reminders that life’s been good – the napkin received from Luke to dry those tears while listening to words seeking forgiveness for ill feelings bestowed upon her yet affording acceptance to a love evolving; the gas receipt to mark the many firsts of love unfolding while embracing the world unfamiliar; the note of endearing love and devotion amidst trials and burdens; or those early gestures of friendship and courtship – petals of flowers/bouquets received, the box and wrappers of chocolate gotten, the shoe as token of that first date; or that news clippings framed to commemorate the accomplishments of the one she loved the most. Or those little gestures unknowingly shared or imparted – a kiss of an elder’s hand as sign of respect, a text to acknowledge a good deed, or retracting one’s words to right a wrong done or even doing the right thing making amends with someone. For she never stops doing the little things to other people especially those close to her heart, affecting them one way or the other, consciously or unknowingly, boldly speaking what’s in her heart, sharing little acts thoughtfulness. For sometimes, it’s those little things that capture the biggest parts of their hearts; and those small and ordinary things that matter in the end. For when life gets the better of her, she can always look back and cherish those precious treasures in her life, remembering their significance, enabling her to continue in whatever life has in store and even sharing memories as well as lessons learned with friends and loved ones alike. “It’s hard to let go of the memories shared with someone for when you remember the tears, you’ll laugh but when you remember the laughs, you’ll cry…”
And once in a while, those unpleasant and harsh things that occurred in our lives put us straight to the path to the best things that will ever happen to us. Some things in life matter more than the others, yet sometimes we don’t take the time to recognize the difference for occasionally we get caught up in the hustle and bustle, the rat race when we could be appreciating and enjoying what’s in us, what we already have. For the days ahead are shaped and molded by the steps we take today and each in every day. And may this remind us that “every sunset gives us one day less to live, but then every sunrise gives us one day more to hope.”
DR: Ay oo nga pala that dinner with Maya was postponed for tomorrow. Hindi ko maintindihan ang Mama mo bakit pa niya pina cancel eh. Ok sige let’s go to the main hangar. I really want to see that green upgrade you’ve been telling me about.

DR: She’s a good influence.
SC: She is, Dad.
I am not worried for Maya. The future mother in law’s impression of Maya might be negative but once she witnesses how Maya love and care for Ser Chief and the kids, she will turn around. If she doesn’t accept Maya, then it will be her lose. She’s a minority, every one loves Maya and Ser Chief will not choose her over Maya. But since this is a GV teleserye , I don’t think that will be a twist. Maya will win her over with her kindness, honesty, integrity, loyalty, sweetness and loving ways. I’m sure DonaE will be amazed at her once she takes over Abby’s care and make her better with her magic kiss. She will see how close Maya and Abbby are.
I can’t relate to DonaE though. I will be a different mother in law, especially to my future daughter in law. I will not be meddling with their lives unless I’m asked and I’m not going to assume that’s it’s okay to redecorate their house without asking permission. I will also not act as if I’m the owner of the house. And lastly I will keep my lips sealed if I don’t have anything positive to say. DonaE is acting like the mother in law to be dreaded.

A Mother vs. A Mom
“A mother knows what’s best for her child.”, a strong statement from Dna. Esmeralda. That was almost a slap in the face for Manang Fe. I’m not saying that Dna. Esmeralda is a bad mother. But she should’ve at least acknowledged Manang Fe’s statement instead of sounding condescending. What Manang Fe said about Maya being good for Richard and his children was not based on opinion, but rather fact and Richard’s mother would’ve known that if she was around more. Just like Maya to the children, Manang Fe knows that she’s not Richard’s mother, but she treats him as her own. She was there the day he was born, through his teenage years, and even now in his adult life. She never left his side. Always ready to put things in to perspective for him whenever he’s losing grip. She may look helpless, but truth is, she’s the strongest and smartest member of the family. It’s reasonable that Dna. Esmerelda is worried about her only son. She’s right about one thing, a parent never stops being a parent. On the other hand, Manang is one of the few people who truly knows Richard. Just by the way he talks, his tone, his walk and just the way he smiles, Manang Fe knows what each of them means. For the most part, Richard doesn’t even need to talk. Manang Fe witnessed when Richard was thriving, but she also there when Richard was languishing. She saw how he became someone who was full of life to someone who is barely living. Dead and empty inside, even his own children didn’t even know how to be around him, and yet Manang Fe was there to act as the temporary glue so that his family doesn’t completely fall apart.
People say, pain changes people, but so does love. Even when the first time Richard’s parents met Maya back in October (Abby’s birthday), his mom already noticed the big difference on Richard. And he didn’t shy away on giving Maya credit for all the changes that were happening with his family, especially with Abby. Now, Dna. Esmeralda is getting Richard version 2.0! He’s a new man, a better man. A man who is not scared to love and who does not hold back on showing his affectionate side. As much as Dna. Esmeralda wants to deny it, the truth is clear and she refuses to see it.
In Dna. Esmeralda’s defense, she’s just being a mother. She raised a good man and that reflects on how Richard is raising his children. At this point, Manang Fe knows more things about Richard, than her. Hadn’t Nikki called, she wouldn’t have found out about Richard being in a relationship. Therefore, she may feel a bit threatened. But hopefully, she can realize that this isn’t a competition and will stop snapping at Manang Fe. And to give her credit for what she’s done for Richard and his family. Anyway, there is just one common goal, which is for the family and Richard to be happy. Going back to what she said to Manang Fe that a mother knows best, in contrary, Manang Fe, knows everything. She is Richard’s biggest fan, guiding light and his “Yoda”. When Manang Fe says Maya is the best thing that can ever happen to the family, she may not have given birth to Richard, but she knows where he should be. And that is, with Maya. The past two episodes surely remind me of this quote: “Anyone can be a mother, but it takes a special woman to be a mom.”
Please enlighten me about this on-going thoughts running in my mind. We all witnessed how Maya and Ser Chief’s relationship bud and grow. After all this time isn’t it Maya is the only one making extra mile to make their relationship work? She knew from the start the her Ser Chief has extra baggages, and she embraces them all to the extent that she set aside her own interest for the sake of Ser Chief’s family. I’m wondering when will time come that Richard will do extra effort to make Maya feel loved and important aside from the tangible stuff that he gave her? There’s a missing element in their relationship which I could hardly figure out how to put the missing piece together. Why is always Maya who has to prove something? Can there be a situation that Richard will stand and reach-out for her to prove his love for Maya? I admire Maya on not giving-up on him, I know he is her first love.
I agree with you, it’s given SC has the looks, stability and the influence, and Maya is lucky to be loved by him, but on the other hand I think with SC being a father of 3 and older than Maya, SC is more lucky to be loved by Maya. Come to think of it, SC admitted before that Maya is still young and just starting to take off on her career, there are still so much for her to experience than be ‘tied’ with him BUT I didn’t see much effort on SC’s part to at least prove that Maya didn’t make a mistake of loving him… between the two of them, SC is the one who should prove himself worthy of Maya’s attention and love.. it seems that SC is so complacent and assured of Maya’s love.

Campaigns & Endorsements
During election time, candidates are closely scrutinized on their background, experience and character. Discerning voters take their time to get to know the candidates before making up their minds. Public appearances are organized to introduce the aspirants to their constituents. Their speeches, their carriage, their appearance and even their choice of clothing are closely examined. It is said that how one carries herself, how she dresses, how she addresses those around her represent her true character. During public appearances, the candidate’s integrity is essentially on public display.
On the other hand, election campaign volunteers go into neighborhoods to canvass the voter’s opinion on their candidate. Celebrities are sought out for their endorsement, which generally speaks to the candidate’s unquestionable character, her desirable attribute, remarkable proven track record and her highly acclaimed accomplishments. In our beloved drama’s latest episode, some of its main characters practice some politics. They canvass the opinion of the likely voters represented by Dona Esmeralda and Don Roberto. They actively campaign for Maya, their candidate. They pitch their speeches to endorse her. They fervently hope to secure their vote for her.
The campaigners work independently of one another. Unbeknownst even amongst themselves, they personally approach Don Roberto and Dona Esmeralda, separately. They effectively apply the divide and conquer method. However, their unorganized effort actually appears orchestrated. Manang Fe and Nikki consciously approach Dona Esmeralda while Sir Chief and Abby casually work on Don Roberto.
Manang Fe and Nikki personally campaign for Maya when they privately approached Dona Esmeralda. Manang Fe proudly extols the virtues of Maya and her positive influence on Richard and the children. Nikki implements damage control. Realizing that the telephone call she made to her grandmother, whereby she expressed her strong reservations about her Dad’s relationship with Maya, essentially prompted her grandparents’ unplanned family visit, prompts her to immediate action. She wants to make sure that her Lola does not hold any inaccurate preconceived notions about Maya’s character. She is aware that her immature and unwise decision has actually put a dent into Maya’s, otherwise, untarnished reputation. Hence, Nikki swiftly seeks out her grandmother and eagerly clarifies her truthful stance on Maya. She tells her grandmother that she initially misspoke and incorrectly misrepresented Maya in their earlier conversation. She makes sure that her grandmother understands that she is undoubtedly giving Maya her ringing endorsement.
During Sir Chief’s casual conversation with his father over coffee, Maya is curiously brought up by the elder Lim. Sir Chief seizes the opportunity to share how much the children love her and how good she has been to the whole family. Don Roberto notices Maya’s simple but loving gesture in the framed newspaper clipping that is displayed in Sir Chief’s office. Furthermore, he is genuinely touched when Abby comes in to say goodnight and asks for her Lolo’s blessing. In modern-day Philippines, the practice of asking for an older person’s blessing seems to be a fading custom. Hence, Don Roberto is pleasantly surprise to see that his grandchild is being taught how to properly pay respect to the elderly. His countenance seems to brighten up when he realized that Maya gets the credit for this admirable act.
A quick assessment on where Maya stands, with the elder Lims, as a result of the conscientious effort of her campaigners and endorsers show that she has secured 50% of the vote. Don Roberto is clearly in favor of her. On the other hand, Dona Esmeralda seems undecided. An act of God, or more appropriately, an act of Maya, seems to be the only way to win her over. With Abby momentarily sick, Maya will immediately respond to address the situation. Maya will indeed have the chance to demonstrate her exemplary skills at planning and implementation, delegation of power and management of resources and display her grace under fire. She will impressively win Dona Esmeralda over and secure her vote in the process!

Jan, it seems that our independent campaigners may have swayed Don Roberto to vote for Maya but Dona Esmeralda remains steadfast unwilling to be swayed by interlocutors. She seems to be one of those voters who will only decide after meeting the candidate in person, doing the usual Q&A under close scrutiny. She will win over Dona Esmeralda and secure her vote after they see Maya be the Florence Nightingale to Abby.

Based on the teaser for next week… seems like there will really be an issue with Donya Esmeralda.I am looking forward for Richard to stood a solid ground behind Maya. I am hoping to hear another speech from him, the underlying message of his hangar launch speech…
Come to think of it, nakukulangan rin ako with how SC shows his affection for Maya and puts value on her for instance:
a. when SC allows Joma to bring Maya home, please naman wag ganun…ayokong ibang tao maghahatid sa akin kung magkasama kami ng boyfriend ko…parang ang dating eh, tapos na ang pakinabang ko sayo , umuwi ka na ng sarili mo. di ba parang degrading kasi parang hired help ang dating!
b. and pagdating sa bahay, may I exit si SC, di sinasamahan si Maya??? well, I thought SC wants to spend more time with Maya bakit parang nawawala siya sa tabi (gusto ko makita si SC na parang miss na miss niya si Maya for himself kaya buntot ng buntot)
c. and most importantly, their private conversations lack substance and ang super iksi parang telegrama.(dahil ba sa mga ads, napuputol and di dapat maputol?) and worse, natatakpan pa ng telepono ni SC si Maya. What is that??? Is that the actuations of a man in love who longs for the company of his lover???
Sana I could feel that SC VALUES MAYA MORE BECAUSE HE LOVES HER RATHER THAN BECAUSE SHE’LL BE A GOOD A SUBSTITUTE MOTHER FOR HIS KIDS!! And sana they should take away SC’s tendency to be dense, yung iba like Liza chinachampion na si Maya laban sa mga mean girls, si SC hindi pa alam na inaaway na pala gelfren nya, pabeso-beso pa siya sa mga mean girls. Then, Sir Chief will follow, then, Luke, then Nikki, then everyone else around the room will do the same, except for Doris, who will presently be asked to stay in her room until she gets better. Then Maya will ask Sabel to boil some water so that she can make the salabat drink. Just the thought that she has to drink that potion, Abby will quickly get out from bed…..magically cured! Then everyone, especially the senior citizens, will stunned to disbelief and be so dumbfounded with Maya’s healing powers.
Sorry, Sis. I got carried away with the scenario. Too much margarita does this to me. My brain cells are getting a little tipsy. wahahahahahaha.

I can’t be sure.. pero I think I know (and understand) what you’re getting at. The thing that I noticed about SC is that he tends to tell others (and Maya) how important she is to him rather than say.. .show it to the viewers. May nabasa ako once na review for a movie, and the critic said that a great story is one that shows (and moves the audience) rather than tells what the story is about through dialogue. Whenever we see SC defending Maya.. or emphasizing how important Maya is to his life.. I can’t help but notice na madalas it’s all talk, not that it’s not true nor is his words insincere.. pero I think what would eventually win the parents approval is if/when they witness first hand what Maya has done for SC and the whole Lim Family.. na hindi na kailangan pang magsalita ng mga bagets.. lalo na ni Abby .. or hindi na kailangang ibuild-up ni Manang Fe si Maya (there was something off about Manang Fe’s convo with DonyaE in yesterday’s episode.. and medyo natarayan ako when DE put emphasis on the fact that she’s the mom and that moms know best.. kaya uncomfortable *** expression ni MF.. and I can tell.. kaya matamlay siya kasi parang she got “burned” somewhat) for the parents to realize how awesome Maya is.
With regards to SC’s complacency.. tingin ko din mas okay na they showcase another side of Ricardo. Napansin ko kasi na the writers are really good at doing that with Maya.. lalo na sa scrapbook. We all know na Maya is a simple, loving and sentimental girl from the get go.. pero if a newbie is to see this episode.. not knowing how Maya really is.. the episode is still successful at describing what her nature is just from that brief scrapbook scene. It showed her sentimentality.. non-giving up attitude and loving nature. Just from that scene alone, it nailed the fact na marami silang pinagdaanan to reach “now” and that she values everything that they’ve been through to get “here”. So different from SC.. coz he talks about it and give gifts and hugs (not that I mind them…) and plan events for Maya. Siguro it’s really in their personality.. pero sana SC has his trinkets too.. hindi lang yung pictures.. to show how much Maya means to him.
I want to clarify something about ser chief’s not showing much affection & importance to Maya. Una sa lahat, hindi nga ba ganun ang mga lalaki? Bibihira lang talaga ang bf na showy. Eh sa kinalakihan ni Ser Chief mukhang iba. Kasi nga tignan nyo sa epi kahapon nabigla si Donya Esme na nagiging malambing na ang anak. Where in the first episodes talagang strict si ser chief before ,aya came into their lives.
Malaki nga talaga ang nagawa ni maya sa kanya at pati sa mga bata, kaya nainlab si Ser Chief sa kanya. Hindi man madalas nakikita ang pagmamahal ni Ser Chief pero kapag pinakita naman nya.. KABOOM! Hindi lang si maya ang mangingisay sa kilig kundi tayo din.
Alam nyo, I remember movies like “The Vow and Dear John” where Channing Tatum is usually the leading man? Usually ang character niya is a quiet, understated type of guy, a man of a few words but man, when he portrays a man in love…KABOOM, madudurog ang puso mo!! I don’t know how he does that though!! Sana if BCWMH could adopt his style, wagas, carried away ulit ang peg natin!!!
I totally agree with you that Sir Chief is wholeheartedly committed to Maya. He has already hinted at wanting her to share the same roof with him and the children, which to me, is tantamount to a marriage proposal, expressed in Morse code. However, being that this is Maya’s first relationship, it means a lot to her that she secures the blessings of Sir Chief’s entire family including his parents. Case in point, she was willing to wait for Nikki to accept her as her father’s girlfriend before they would ever go out on another date again. Hence, out of respect for the elder Lims, I think Maya would feel happier if they readily gave their blessings to them as a couple. Gaining their approval means being accepted. Being accepted means being respected. And principled Maya would want nothing less. Moreover, Maya believes that a family should stay together, no matter what. hence, the kapit bisig philosophy. Furthermore, she enjoys a loving relationship with her own mother. It just would not sit right with her if Sir Chief, the only child of Dona Esmeralda, disapproves of her for her son. So the only way to make everybody happy is to ultimately get Dona Esmeralda’s acceptance of Maya for her son. Sir Chief may be able to walk away from his parents (and as you pointed out, he did before with Alex) if they won’t approve of Maya but Maya won’t let him do that. She will urge him to let her work hard to win their hearts, as well. That is just how Maya is. That is just the magic she possess. She never quits until everybody is happy. Yes, Maya’s magic kiss, her healing touch and her calming presence is what will be beautifully portrayed int he next episode. The Abby-Maya exchange that will invariably be displayed will effectively showcase Maya’s inherent motherly instincts to immediately take care of Abby, while Abby will gratefully show her uninhibited and genuine love for her Ate Maya. I think the next scene will be so utterly intimate between former yaya and her former alaga that it will definitely tug at the heart strings of, not only the senior Lims, but Richard, Luke, Nikki, Manang Fe and the housekeeters. Everyone will get a rare glimpse into the special bond that these two have developed between them. How pure! How genuine! How tender! Everyone will be so affected that they can’t help but be envious of their relationship and wish for themselves a mother figure as loving, as caring, as giving, as kind, as gentle and as perfect as Maya is to Abby. Then, Dona Esmeralda will realize just how petty she has been and will be embarrass to acknowledge to herself that she even thought ill things of this beautiful young woman who singlehandedly positively transformed the lives of everyone in this household. How could she now deny her son his happiness with this living treasure! Then and there, she can’t help but also fall in love with Maya and she will wholeheartedly bequeath the blessing that Maya and Richard seek from her. Withholding it would just be blatantly mean. Dona Esmeralda will embrace Maya into the Lim family. That indeed will be a joyous occasion when that will finally happen! Jan, and everybody, I so agree with you all… Maya will eventually get the approval of DE for she unknowingly got the vote of approval from DR. All she needs to do is do her magic with Abby and show the greatness of their special connection for Maya may not be Abby’s mother but they do share that mother-daughter bond that goes well beyond the genes and that only their hearts can understand. And for sure, that will be seen and felt by DE which would hopefully warrant a change of heart and opening and welcoming Maya into the family.

Maya and Ehman are at the store checking out fruits that Maya is supposed to bring to dinner at the Lims. Ehman is still insisting Maya gets a mini makeover for the meet and greet with the Senior Lims but Maya argues, she doesn’t need a makeover. Ehman said that if his parents were to meet Wilson….or Joma’s parents he said he will be terrified. Maya begged Ehman to stop being negative (I am sure Maya is just putting up a brave front. I am sure she is scared to death.) Maya said, besides, she’s met them before. Ehman responds back to say that when she met them before, it was under a different circumstance. Now she is an FA and a gf of their son. Maya argued that only her status changed but she has not. She is still the same Maya they met before. She admits its awkward but she is sure she can work it our just like the situation with Nikki. Ehman apologizes for being negative and asked to leave for a second to the dry food section. He is sure Chinese people eat them too (ha ha Ehman you are so crazy and so cute.)
Dinner has Been Postponed
Maya gets the call from Richard. She is excited and was telling him she is at the grocery store. She wants to find out from him what type of fruit would his parents like and began to enumerate them to Richard. He had to stop Maya for a moment to tell her that dinner has been postponed until tomorrow night. (Until next week actually ☹) He said, there isn’t any other reason but that his folks got tired from the trip. Maya was disappointed (I think I know what she feels. No matter how much Richard tells me there aren’t any other reason but tiredness, I am still going to think maybe it is I. Maybe they just don’t like me…Nega nega go away!) Richard could hear it in her voice. Maya told Richard its ok. She understands that they are tired and that is perfectly fine. Richard tried to make it up to her by asking her to go out to dinner, just the two of them. He asked her where he should pick her up. Maya said no, she’s fine. She encourages Richard to stay home and spend time with his parents after all they have just arrived. Don’t worry Maya said; Ehman will keep her company. Richard asked her why they are stressing over this? It is just dinner he continues. (Richard is trying to downplay it because he is feeling guilty about all of this. Ricardo it isn’t your fault it is Doña Excuse Me.) Maya replies it is because it sounded like he is feeling guilty for changing the plans…(see Richard, Maya senses it too.) Then Richard answers Maya. He said that he felt her disappointment. Maya assures him it is ok. But she tells him that tomorrow she is on field reserve and may have to stay at the airport until evening unless she picks up a flight earlier in the day then she will be relieved from the shift. (I hope I understood that right or else the FA’s reading this might say I am bogus ha ha Sorry) Richard tells her that maybe they should postpone dinner for until the day after tomorrow? Maya said no. If by lunchtime she still has not picked up a flight, (or hasn’t been relieved) she would text Richard to tell him her status. So Richard felt a little better and asked her again to go to dinner. Maya said no thank you. Her and Ehman will go out on a date tonight. She said goodnight to him. Bye Richard said. And as soon as he hung up the phone, he sends a text to Maya telling her that he knows she is worried and to stop it. (These two are so in tuned with each other. They could tell immediately how the other feels even when they are not in front of each other. Amazing!)

POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT
Positive reinforcement is a behavioral technique used to encourage desirable actions. Giving positive reinforcement to others is one of the best things we can do if we want to see a change in behavior. Finding the good in something or someone is much more effective than focusing on the negative. It is really how we look at it for when we keep our attitudes positive no matter what or whom we are dealing with it will make our lives happier and much lighter. As the saying goes, “Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results.”
The Lim household from Richard, to the kids – Luke, Nikki and even Abby, down to Manang Fe put in their share of good words and positive feedbacks about Maya to downplay the incident of playing in the rain that Donya Esmeralda abhorred that eventually led to Abby’s getting sick. From Nikki’s recanting her initial disapproval of her Ate Maya as her Dad’s girlfriend, to Abby’s preference of her Ate Maya’s care and attention to Nikki’s recollection of the support of Ate Maya during her Florante and Laura play or Luke’s suggestion of asking Ate Maya’s help in coming up with exciting activities for West Teatro’s program and activities or Manang Fe’s high praises or Richard’s constant affirmation and full declaration of his love and support for Maya.
DE had witnessed Maya’s impact not only to Richard but Abby and Luke and Nikki. DE heard all the adulations, everybody’s high praise yet she didn’t seem convinced; she witnessed first had and yet, she refused to acknowledge the glaring truth for she needed to probe more and scrutinize further. For her, it’s not enough “to see is to believe” and to hear from other people but she needed to hear it from the source, from Maya, up close and really personal. So for now she reserves her verdict, until the lunch date. And so we shall all wait…

I wrote something about why I think DE is acting the way she is in Connie’s thread. I have copied the part that speaks to what you brought up here.“…….it bears pointing out that the initial appearance of the senior Lims was limited to Abby’s birthday party and they stayed in their own ancestral home, then. However, during this visit, they are living under the same roof with the whole family. Their situation reminds me of the saying: “Guests, like fish, begin to smell after three days.” – Benjamin Franklin.”Moreover, DE does not like playing second fiddle to a virtual new comer. She existed waaaay before this newbie Maya came into the picture, but no one seems to give her the respect and honor that she feels she justly deserves. Super tampo tuloy ang dating niya which she expresses in a passive aggressive way. Raising her kilay and doling out her sharp barbs on anyone who is brave enough to be in her presence. DE is also envious that Maya won everyone’s heart in such a short period. DE is also upset that she can’t seem to unseat Maya from the pedestal that everybody has put her on.
DE matanda na kasi kaya mahirap na timplahin ang attitude. Si DR naman masyadong business minded lagi nakakalimutan ang dinner date.

Authoritative Parenting
Described as the just right style, it combines a medium level demands on the child and a medium level responsiveness from the parents. Authoritative parents rely on positive reinforcement and infrequent use of punishment. Parents are more aware of a child’s feelings and capabilities and support the development of a child’s autonomy with reasonable limits. There is a give and take atmosphere involved in parent child communication and both control and support are present.
Authoritarian Parenting
Authoritarian parents are very rigid and strict. They place high demands on the child, but are not responsive to the child. Rules are often more important than relationship. Parents who practice authoritarian style parenting have a rigid set of rules and expectations that are strictly enforced and require rigid obedience. When the rules are not followed, punishment is most often used to promote future obedience. There is usually no explanation of punishment except that the child is in trouble for breaking a rule.
SC went from being an authoritarian to an authoritative parent with the help of Manang Fe and Maya. In the early part of the show, he had so many rules for Luke and Nikki to follow, especially Luke since he was rebelling against his dad. SC’s main focus at that time was that Luke followed the rules and when he didn’t he was punished, by taking away his privilege to drive. But with the subtle influence of Maya, he slowly began to see that his children were not happy and he went out of his way to find out what he can do to reach out and understand Luke. Maya was a witness to the fear and distance and lack of compassion between the father and the children. With overflowing love in her heart, she could not bear the thought of this family living this way. She simply started with Abby, telling her dad goodnight and giving him a good night kiss and the rest is history. Now, when he makes a decision about activities for the whole family, he involves the children. They communicate honestly, and their feedback are given serious consideration. He is responsive to them and is willing to listen to their concerns. And when the children fail to meet his expectations, he is more nurturing and forgiving rather than punitive. When they have pressing issues with their personal lives, they go to their dad first for his advice and he listens not early with his ear, but more importantly with his heart. And that he has Maya to thank for. Their feelings and happiness are more important to him now, than obeying set rules that no one can keep up with all the time. What matters most to him now, is that the children have happy memories to replace the sad ones. And don’t worry Abby…the next time it rains, you will be out there dancing and laughing again.
On the other hand Dona E is one Authoritarian parent. Very rigid and strict, goes by the book and if disobeyed…sang katutak na lecture, na paulit ulit lang. Haaayyy Naku!!! Kakasawa na ano! Stop kana Dona, kasi no one is listening to you naman eh. Kailan ka aalis, para mag kabuhay ulit and Lim household. Kasi malapit na naman ang ulan. We want to hear the laugher of the kids once again, and maybe this time the Mahal Na Hari can join, anyway kahit mag turn sya into a frog, there is the Mahal Na Princesa to kiss him naman eh.
Anyway Dona E is a typical authoritarian parent, because she offers no reasoning behind her actions, she leaves a detached emotional attachment in the family. This is evident in the way the help is conducting themselves around her, including Manang Fe who has been there since the birth of SC and probably has been more of a mother to him than her. They fear her more than respect her, which is not at all a fertile soil for fostering good relationship. She displays little warmth and is highly controlling. She is the type that is willing to take away many privileges to command control. She may be feeling insecure and the though of losing control over her family has got her feathers ruffled. With Abby sick from playing in the rain, which is apparently a no no in her book makes her feel that she has lost control. Insecure, and most probably a bit envious when Abby chose her Ate Maya to feed her. Afterall, she is her lola and they should have that connection, but Dona E started off on the wrong foot, fussing and scolding everyone about not playing in the rain. She has placed fear in Abby’s heart, hence she was crying and thinking that she could never play again in the rain. Don’t worry Abby, there will be plenty of opportunity for you to play in the rain once your lola leaves and Ate Maya takes over the house.

Maya forgot how to deal with stress as taught to her by Capt Jame Ventura. Inhaling deeply for ten seconds and then emptying her lungs out by blowing the air out of her mouth in one go. She is obviously panicking. She seems to be forgetting how to breathe. She looks like she wants to hyperventilate or it looks like she is holding her breath and forgetting to exhale. Nevertheless, she will be fine. She always comes out of the fire unscathed…..all the time!

The BCWMH writers are slowly preparing the ground for us to comedown from the high last week with the monthsary kilig much and playing in the rain Euphoria. It’s just amazing how the writers turn a very trivial matters such as playing in the rain into the main focal point of a story line. Well done!
When Richard’s parents first appeared in this teleserye during Abby’s birthday party, they seemed to be very nice and appreciative couple. Donya Esme in particular seemed to really like Maya. I even remember her telling Richard ” Huwag mo nang pakawalan iyan” or something to that effect. I also remember that she told Maya that time na, ” Next time, we will have a serious talking to do.” Even Manang Fe said that she is really a good person and is very easy to get along with. Doris and Sabel that time seemed to be very happy to see them. When Nikki rang her the last time to make sumbong about his father’s new girlfriend, she seems to be very accommodating but she didn’t make any derogatory comment. That’s why I remember that I posted here that Donya Esme is not the twist in the story.
But now, all that we can see since her arrival is that she seemed to be overbearing. Her interactions with the help including Manang Fe is distant and aloof. All of these is just because Richard and Manang Fe allowed the kids to play in the rain??? Maybe there’s more to this than what meets the eye. Does she thinks that Maya is so manipulative that everyone in the mansion including her own son can’t say no her? Is she jealous of Maya because her apo’s affection are all now centered at Maya? What kind of childhood that Richard had that he can’t even play in the rain? Basing on what we hear from D E, Richard seemed to have an over protected and sheltered childhood. Borrowing Nikki’s word, does Richard miss half of his life because he hasn’t played in the rain, or maybe he does, his mother just didn’t know:-)
I would like to think that Donya Esmeralda is a good bred of a woman and that her initial reaction is only because of her shock that her son allowed her kids to play in the rain and Abby’s getting sick as a result of it. She might initially think that Maya is not right for Richard because as per her standard, Maya lacks parenting skills because she’s still very young. But the generation gap between Maya and Richard is actually a blessing in disguise because she can relate to the kids more that Richard can. Richard and Maya actually compliments each other, Richard will be the disciplinarian and sometimes controlling figure in the household. While Maya will be the friend and confidante for the teenage kids and loving and fun mother figure for baby Abby.
I also think that Donya Esmeralda is actually lonely and is missing her family much. Her husband is always busy with his business as usual and she’s always left alone by herself doing nothing. Poor rich Donya Esme. You better come back and live in the Philippines so that this Serye can be prolong for much longer. Can’t wait to see how the two get along in tomorrow’s lunch. Kita kits tayo later.
The episode today is just okay, but…
…I like how SC is so calm about Abby’s sickness, it only means na hindi naman kasi big deal yung pagkakasakit nung bata, normal lang… in fact, okay na si Abby during the story telling portion.
…I love the story telling portion, with SC just amusely watching Maya and Abby giggle especially on the part of hindi paliligo ng mahal na hari sa ulan… ang sweet lang ng set-up sa room ni abby, happy family ang peg.
…The “boost Maya to lolo and lola” strategy of Luke and Nikki on the dining table is somehow hilarious, they just did the “DorBel strategy”during the time na they are both apprehensive sa relationship ng dad nila with Mama Ganda
…Donya Esmeralda is seemed to be threatened on the new situation sa Lim mansion — “masyado na kayo maluwag” and “hindi mo na ba sya (Richard) ma-control ngayon?” She can feel and see that things have changed, and hindi sya maka-relate so she needs to know Maya better.
Dona Esmeralda may have been a controlling mother to her son when he was growing up. Thankfully, Manang Fe, as his nanny probably offered him a more balanced childhood. Manang Fe has mentioned on a number of occasions that Maya reminded her of how she was in her younger days. I bet Manang Fe treated Richard just like how Maya treats Abby now.
Also, it bears pointing out that the initial appearance of the senior Lims was limited to Abby’s birthday party and they stayed in their own ancestral home. However, during this visit, they are living under the same roof as the whole family. Their situation reminds me of the saying: “Guests, like fish, begin to smell after three days.” – Benjamin Franklin.
I am hoping that the lunch will be okay…and please!!!! may i just repeat! why is it ba na si Maya ang kailangan na mag-prove of her worth for SC, it should be the other way around… #kontingimportansyaparakayMaya
Ang ganda talaga ng transformation ni Maya in terms of physical appearance. Am anticipating also her transformation into someone who can weather the storms she’ll be facing as SC’s partner. Hope her grace and strength will shine through enough that DE would be so in awe of her.
Meet the Parents Continues
In today’s episode, Doña Excuse Me greets Richard and Don R after they have gone to see the hangar at Clark. She learns from Richard that Maya is coming to dinner tonight. She immediately suggested that she needs to cook something special for Maya. Richard suggested for Sabel to help her. Sabel didn’t seem too pleased about that. A bit uneasy (well I would be too Sabel.)
At the University, Nicolo and Luke saw Inigo signing up for some extra curricular activity. Nicolo urged Luke to join as well but Luke wasn’t too much interested (me thinks he adhered to his Dad’s suggestion not to join any clubs during the first year and to focus and concentrate on adjusting to the college ways.) Luke tells Nicolo they should just hang out and talk even if it means they talk about Aira Tse. Nicolo tells Luke that he’s ok with Aira Tse not accepting his courtship because he realizes they are better off as friends.( good Nicolo, about time you realize that) All of a sudden, they see these two girls who invite them to join PUS Music and Sound. They tell Luke and Nicolo that they really need guys to join and since they are cute, the girls were ready to exempt them to the first audition. Luke wasn’t interested and soon as he saw Louie, he escapes the girls leaving Nicolo behind. (Luke really takes after his Dad. He ignores the shallow girls even though they are falling all over their faces for him ha ha)
At the High school, Nikki is having a meeting with the group of West Theatro schoolmates. They were brainstorming about how they could invite more people to join specially that they only have 8 people signed up. They have decided that the best thing to do is to change the poster, have a re-staging of excerpts of Florante and Laura, then hold workshops and invite alumni to facilitate the workshop. Inigo and Joeys names came up. (Hmmm me thinks your brother might have something to say about that Niknik)
Too Loosey Goosey
Meanwhile, Dona Excuse Me came back from picking up Abby in School. Apparently, Abby got sicker while in school. Dona Excuse Me immediately scolded everyone who is standing there about sending a sick kid to school. (Blah blah blah…i am getting tired of hearing the same ol complaint. No wonder Richard turned out to be a great man because he was raised by Manang Fe) Abby asked Doris to put her down and Manang Fe could feel her warmth. Immediately she sent Doris to take Abby to her room and get the medicine for her fever. But Dona Excuse Me said she will do it. Upstairs, Dona Excuse Me had Abby in bed with a face towel on her forehead. She pulls the thermometer from Abby’s mouth and checks her temperature. She tells Manang Fe that she should know better that when a child has a cough, they should never be allowed to go to school. Manang Fe said that it was Richard’s decision to send Abby to School. Essentially, she allows Richard to make that decision for his children. She believes that should be his call. Dona Excuse Me asked Manang Fe if she can no longer control Richard? She said she has noticed that about Manang Fe that she has been too lose in this household. She said everyone seem to be too loosey goosey. And then she turns to the thermometer and asks Manang Fe if it is broken? Manang Fe told her that the thermometer wasn’t even on Abby for 10 minutes. Naturally, it couldn’t be detected right away. Manang Fe suggested that she should go ahead and she will let Doris take care of Abby. Dona Excuse Me refused and she said she is the grandmother and she is free. She wants to be the one to care for Abby personally. (Pushy) Manang Fe has no choice
Si DE insecure lang… lalo na all praiseslahat ng makausap nya about Maya
natural (but not necesaarily right) hanap sya ng flaws ni Maya to feed her ego that Maya is not at all that perfect.
Mga apo, lambingin nyo na lang…SC, reassure her na love nyo pa rin sya. Ganyan kasi ang mga lola, they sometimes feel they are useless na pag may ibang nag aaruga sa mga anak o apo nila.

While everyone is busy extolling the virtues of Ate Maya, Dona Esmeralda is churning inside with jealousy. She is visibly resentful at the mere mention of Maya’s name. What used to be a bright and happy countenance has been replaced with an unhappy scowl. She once was the apple of the eye of her son, but presently, she clearly no longer is. Her grandchildren used to be excited to be in her presence, but now, to her chagrin, they prefer someone else’s. All of these have changed seemingly with just a blink of an eye, when Maya came into the lives of her son and grand kids. It is as if this woman has put a magic spell on her family. They all seem to be under her control. They seem unable to get out of her clutches. She feels she needs to protect her loved ones to make sure that they are not being manipulated. She knows of only one thing that she can and need to do. She needs to get her alone so that she can interview this woman and ascertain her motives. She must safeguard her family’s interest and keep them away from harm. Right now, she is not sure whether Maya has a hidden agenda or she is merely putting on an act to endear herself to her loved ones. It is imperative that she addresses this issue now before everything is too late. Lunch! She must take her out to lunch. Alone.

Another thought seems to keep worming its way into my consciousness and I would like to share them here.I actually think that the older Lims might effectively bring about another sub plot in the very near future when they will create a multi generational household wherein the three generations will live in one household. It seems Don Roberto is demonstrating early signs of Alzheimers when he casually says that he is getting forgetful. A possible reason why Dona Esmeralda may be feeling some pain in her shoulder, not because of the heavy horse (Marya, ha ha ), but it could possibly be a heart condition. Hence, Richard, being an only child, will feel compelled to perform his obligation as a son by offering that the older Lims live with them. Now we will ultimately see how Maya will take care of the daily issues that a full household will definitely entail.That is just my humble prognostication. (T’aR, that is another hint for you.)

Maya: Oo naman Ser Chief ko dahil maaga ka pa bukas sasamahan mo Papa mo mamaya hindi
ka magising… nakakailang minus point na ako sa kanila no?
SC: What are you talking about? Hindi pa nga kayo nakakapag-usap.
So finally, the lunch date pushes through. It is quite hard to say what the outcome is considering that Dona Esmeralda always projects not quite a poker face but something like an uppity stance – possibly reserving her impression of Maya, just like she said, she wants to know who Maya is. Maya’s candidness makes her spontaneous and open, while Dona Esmeralda is holding her own as the aloof Mother of Richard, there is still that wall between them.
Dona Esmeralda is feeling pain on her left shoulder and left upper arms. I feel she might have something going on but she is used to taking it for granted though she is starting to feel uncomfortable. Brushing aside Maya’s voiced concern that she might be getting tired….is just plain on the Dona’s part of disregarding it as anything but her taking care of their luggage.
I guess the full lunch will be revealed tomorrow, because SC asking about how it went was already on the teaser. With Dona Esmeralda asking where Richard is after Don Roberto got home and Don Roberto reminding Dona Esmeralda that Richard has his own life to live.
Maya is not sure how she is taken by Richard’s parents – she feels the aloofness, or wall that makes it uncomfortable as compared to her family’s acceptance of Richard because they know how much Maya loves him, and that is enough reason for them to accept Richard. In the teaser, Maya told Sir Chief that “sana ganoon din ang parents mo sa akin.”
I am assuming Abby is better because this episode is silent about her.
Cho’s predicament is still hanging and taking so long to address. I anticipate something happening to finally put a close to Cho’s situation, but when I do not know….dragging na masyado, continuity of the interconnection stopped for awhile when concentration of the story centered on the LIMs momentarily leaving Cho’s predicament hanging for awhile – in the story timeline, nawala sa litrato muna, then as if time stopped and then it picked up where they left off na lang. But on the LIm’s side, madami na ang nangyari so hindi na simultaneous with the main story line.
Luke commits himself in the group joining Nicolo and seems to be attracted to one of the recruiter. Joey’s physical appearance when she is seen at the West Treatro event gets Luke’s and Nicolo’s attention. There seems to be a new twist to their story.
I think this interview serves to break the wall down that Dona E has built between them. I have a feeling that Dona E will conduct her further investigation of Maya by including her family. I think she is going to San Nicolas herself to meet Nanay T. She probably wants to verify that what Maya shared in her interview is true.Joey’s re-entrance into Luke’s life re-ignites his old feelings for her. This is something to look forward to.
Maya: Yun na nga yun eh hindi pa nga kami ganun nakakapag-usap tapos kung anu-ano na yun kapalpalkan nagawa ko.Ser Chief nakakahiya hindi natin nasabayan Mama mo sa dinner.
SC: Because you took care of Abby.
Maya: Kasi kasalanan ko rin naman dahil pinaligo ko yun bata sa ulan.
SC: Hindi mo nga yun kasalanan. (Maya saw DE)
SC: Ma! What are you doing? Hindi ka pa natutulog?
DE: Hindi ako makatulog, magtsa-tsaa na lang siguro ako besides may nakalimutan akong ibigay.Here (to Maya) pasalubong ko sa’yo.
Maya: Naku! maraming salamat po, nag-abala pa po kayo. Ah magtsa-tsaa po kayo? Gusto nyo po ba samahan namin kayo? Halika magkape na rin tayo.
DE: No! Ayokong gabihin kayo ni Ricky sa daan. Bukas na lang tayo mag-meet lunch time sa labas?
SC: What? I’m not available Ma, may lakad kami ni Papa.
DE: Hindi ikaw ang iniimbita ko Ricky, si Maya.
Maya: Ahm ookay po sige po bukas na lang po.
DE: O sige I call you up, and I’ll give you the details at tomorrow.
Maya: Ok po.
DE: Ok sige goodnight.
SC: I’ll meet you outside.
Maya: Okay.
SC: Ma! Don’t give hard time okay?
DE: Me?
SC: Nods.. ha! Ihahatid ko lang si Maya.
Maya: Ah Ser Chief ok lang ba na mag-isa lang dun magtsa-tsaa Mama mo?
SC: She’s use to it, don’t worry.
Maya: Pero syempre iba pa rin yun may kasama, bilisan mo na lang paghatid sa akin para maabutan mo pa siya.
SC: Ah I’m sure she’ll be sleeping by then.
THE TIES THAT BIND 2.0
Relationships are formed with the ties that people develop or build. The ties that bind us are those which hold us together – predetermined words, social norms, physical desires, emotional links, things that may be transient but nonetheless hold great influence. We are all “tied” to other people one way or another by virtue of birth when children are brought into this world; emotional ties such as friendships or any kind of relationships; or when we enter into any kind of agreement or contract to another person, group or society; these “ties” bind us to keep our promises and commitments. These ties are, in the first order, family ties; then family-like ties, bound together by what we have in common… by love… by fate.
A mother has undying love for her child and the relationship between mother and child is very special that starts even before a child is born. A mother is the first in a child’s life for she protects, nourishes and bequeaths her love, care and sacrifices so many things to give the best for her child. Her presence itself deeply affects the entire life of a child. DE and Richard as mother and son have ties that may be biological but with DE’s seemingly domineering and over protectiveness may have fostered a bond that was tough, indifferent and distant. The love shared may be present but one that is tough, aloof but love just the same of which such relationship had been carried to this day. On the other hand, what was lacking in the DE-Richard relationship had been filled by an unlikely relationship between Manang Fe and Richard for they may not have been biologically related but that mother-son relationship has been more pronounced and evident to this day. That unique bond shared by this two (Manang Fe-Richard) transcends blood and yet one that they continuously nurtured, cherished and valued on a day-to-day basis.
On the other hand, Maya and Abby may not have shared the same DNA but theirs is a very special bond that goes beyond genetics; for theirs is a relationship that emanated from the heart… chosen by their hearts… manifested by their minds and desired deeply within. They had that instant connection when no one else seemed to understand Abby; Maya simply knew for her heart knew what Abby’s heart longed for. No logic, no explanations needed for they just seem to understand, their hearts without doubt just knew. Abby just lights up in the presence of Maya. When Abby was unable to talk, Maya was able to understand her when no one else could – not even her Dad, her siblings or any other members of the household. It only took Maya’s undying love and concern to grasp and connect with Abby. And now that Abby’s down with fever was no different for not even her Lola can take care of her nor persuade her, not until Maya supported DE as she joined her convincing Abby to eat the food prepared and drink the herbal concoction that will make her feel better. For the ties between these two is something that their hearts and souls can only comprehend.
As for Richard and Maya, the ties that bind them is one that is centered on selfless and profound love for one another, one that values honor, respect, patience, tolerance, openness, acceptance, fostering inner growth and personal triumphs and successes individually and as a team as they confront situations and adversities thrown at them together, as one unit. Theirs is one true and deep bond that transcends between and beyond them for the ties no longer include just the two of them but three more beautiful souls forever attach to them, to their love equation making their ties stronger by five-fold as five souls have been intertwined making such bond formidable and deeply rooted.
And as DE tried to figure out her son’s relationship with Maya, she needed to appreciate that bond not only between the two but Maya’s relationship with her grandchildren as well. She may have witnessed it before her very eyes, she may have heard the kids’ high praises for Maya but she would not be persuaded just as easily as she needed to investigate further. And the only way to do that would be to invite Maya over lunch where she could control the interaction and extract whatever information she needed for whatever reason she may have in mind. As it turned out no amount of intimidation could dampen Maya’s demeanor as she opened up her entirety from her bubbly self to the adversities she had gone thru, even sharing stories of her undying support and devotion for Richard and the kids as her genuine high regard for Richard was way beyond that even his speech at the hangar launch which may seem ordinary to most who had heard it, but to Maya, it was something of great value for she saw greatness even in ordinary circumstances to just about anyone but most importantly where Richard is concerned. For thru it all, that unconditional love shared by Richard and Maya is what binds them together and what keeps them together.

Maya & Donya Esmeralda Q&A
Obviously, DE isn’t liking Maya’s talkativeness that much. Well, can’t really blame her especially if the real intent of her talk with Maya is to get to know her background.
At first, I was kinda irritated at what DE is doing to Maya and how she’s acting towards her. But I later came to realize that almost ALL mothers-in-law start that way with their daughters-in-law, right? Even if their son is old enough to have grandchildren, the moms would always be protective of their son’s welfare. Some even think that no woman will ever be good enough for their sons. Yeah, it sucks but that’s reality. So far, DE is being consistent with this stereotype.
I think that the QA didnt go too well too. Based on the teaser, both Maya and DE had apprehensions when asked how it went. So, I’m thinking that DE still has yet to appreciate Maya as Ricky’s GF. But it will happen naman.

Ser Chief as Cheerleader
Yeah..yeah. We barely felt Ser Chief’s presence in today’s episode. Except for the ” It doesn’t matter what they think. That won’t change how I feel for you.” line.
However, since I have psyched myself that Ricky is the non-touchy-feely / close to stoic type of BF, the text msgs as a sign of his support is commendable enough. He has already decided that whatever the outcome is of the Maya-DE meeting, he would still stick with Maya ( As he should because he’ll be stupid if he lets go of such a catch as Maya )
I just hope, just like a few mentioned here….we get to see Ser Chief prove his worth as the BF of Maya. She’s been through A LOT already just proving that she’s best for Ser Chief. But I have yet to see Ser Chief prove that Maya should be dating him and not some other MORE eligible bachelor who can easily fall for Maya. I’m not quite satisfied with Ser Chief’s “da moves” when he came up to Nanay Teresita and confessed that he’s dating Maya.

Oh so she transformed into a less boring girl. Hmmm…I dunno if she can pull the act. I think her part is coming to an end. The writers will just show how Luke will move on from the break-up. Besides, they have yet to show closure for Joey and Luke.
I can truly relate how Maya feels about this meeting with Donya Esme. I remember when I meet the parents of my Filipino boyfriend. It was so tense but when the father asked me if we own our house and if whether we have some properties that’s where I got my confidence. Why, because I turned it into a comedy. I told him that we have plenty of lands but it is all in the pots. 🙂
In Maya’s case she got hers from the happy memories she shared with Richard and the kids and Richard’s constant encouragement and assurance. I can’t blame Maya when she got nervous when she saw DE. Biruin nyo naman, sa laki ng suot na pendant ni DE, makamatay kaya ‘yon. Buti na lang maliit lang ‘yong bag niya :-).
Base on tomorrow’s trailer, it seemed that Maya got a negative feeling from her future in law. Bakit kaya?

This poor little girl is being torn between her lola and her former Yaya. Good thing she managed to make them both feel important during that scene in the bedroom. Mutya is really adorable!
I Can Do It
Dona E tried to give Abby the oregano juice but Abby didn’t want to. Then Maya, to entice Abby, told her that is what Nanay T used to give her when she was a little girl to make her feel better. Abby still refused. Then when Dona E massaged her arm, Maya offered to be the one to give the drink to Abby. Dona E said no, she can do it. Even at Richard’s request for her to rest and him and Maya will take care of Abby, Dona E refused. She wants to be the one to give the drink to Abby. (Wow she isn’t gonna let it go this time.) So Maya reminded Abby about the ginger drink. At first, she didn’t like it because she did not like the taste but later she got used to it and liked it because it made her voice feel better. Once more, Maya urged Abby to take a drink. Then Abby started to drink the concoction. She kept on drinking until she finished it. (Good girl Abby!) It made Dona E happy that Abby obliged. Grandma said see, it didn’t taste too bad after all. Abby thanked her Grandma and they kissed and said goodnight. Abby asked her Grandma if her Ate Maya could finish her story first. Dona E said ok but urged Richard and Maya to immediately come downstairs to have dinner. Richard told her to go on ahead because Maya and he will first put Abby to bed. Dona E had no choice but to let them do what they need to do with Abby.
In Nikki’s room, Luke knocks at the door wanting to borrow Nikki’s charger. Nikki noticed that he wanted to talk. She asked him if there is a problem? But before Luke could answer, Nikki sensed that it was because of Joey. She apologized to Luke for inviting Joey to the West Theatro event. She said Joey was not only a member of West Theatro, she also was the former president of the club and a friend. She said not to worry because they probably won’t see each other anyway. Luke understood and said it is ok and walked out of Nikki’s room.
Downstairs, Sabel was talking to herself in front of the dinning table refusing to put away the food because she is waiting for Richard and Maya to come downstairs to eat. She was yawning when Dona E came to the dinning room, asked her if she is already tired? Sabel told Dona E she is waiting for the two to come downstairs to eat. Dona E told her doesn’t bother because it may be a while before Richard and Maya will come down. She tells Sabel to put the food away.
Nikki was talking to her schoolmates about the West Theatro event. Nikki was excited to hear from Joey. She asked if she was going to attend the event? Joey asked if it is an exclusive event for only West Theatro people? Nikki said that those are the details that they will finalize tomorrow. She also asked if Joey minds if it is an open event? Joey said no and said she is attending. This made Nikki very happy. (I missed Joey. After all she is an original cast.)

Just my two cents, ever since the beginning Maya has been the one proving herself not only as SC’s GF but also during the nanny days pa nya. Only once did SC do something for Maya and it wasn’t even to prove himself but only to apologize.

Kaya as far as I’m concerned, this show is about Maya trying to prove to everyone around that she is a worthy person, sa mga anak ni SC, sa parents nya, to SC himself and everyone else. Ang theme yata ng show is “To prove Maya’s worth to the world.”
It just emphasizes how lucky SC is to have someone like Maya and I believe that he is secured with the knowledge that she will always be there for him no matter what.

The downside is parang taken for granted si Maya kasi sya lang ang bigay ng bigay without asking for anything in return. Pero kay Maya enough na yung pagmamahal ni SC sa kanya kaya ok lang na ipakita nya sa iba na deserving sya for SC. Na kahit ano gagawin nya parang lang ma-prove sa lahat na karapat-dapat sya for him.
Kaya nung time na nag-away sila si SC, I just can’t help but be disappointed with what others say about Maya. She was not being “Maarte” but only being a human being who was hurt. She has done nothing wrong and yet sya pa ang masama. Then now, saka lang naiisip ng iba na si Maya lang ang laging “out to prove herself” pero ndi nila naisip na matagal nang ginagawa yun ni Maya.
I can’t help but hope na sana dumating din ang time na si SC naman ang maghihirap para ipakita na he deserves Maya. I guess it can’t be helped kasi nga CEO si SC and anyone na maging GF nya or wife has to look a certain way, or be a certain kind of individual, na bagay sa isang CEO.

They did love each other but, therein lies the difference from our drama because, unlike Sir Chief and Maya, the king and the governess could not admit how they feel for each other. How appropriate that Dona Esmeralda also ordered “tea” for them to drink. Hopefully, she will quickly realize that Maya is really her “cup of tea”.
This interview is a one-sided interview. This is primarily arranged for Dona Esmeralda to learn facts about Maya, observe how she carries herself, assess her personality, test her intelligence and finally determine whether she is ultimately the appropriate woman for her son. Since Dona Esmeralda initiates this meeting, she controls the interview process, which essentially means she asks all the questions and Maya answers all of them.
Initially, Maya fails to make the right impression on the older woman. Her blouse is askew; the buttons do not line up accordingly. Fortunately, this is an easy fix. Subsequently, however, Maya displays her impressive photographic memory as she poignantly recollects in great detail the launching event of the hangar in Clark. Moreover, she easily proves to Dona Esmeralda that she has a sharp mind when she essentially conveys the speech that Richard delivered at the event, verbatim! Her emotional narration of this event shows Dona Esmeralda not only how deeply she loves her son but communicates her deep devotion for him, as well. Finally, Dona Esmeralda assesses her character. Maya successfully demonstrates to the older woman that she is one who does not easily give up when faced with adversities, that she possesses an indomitable spirit and that she has achieved her goals in life through diligence, self-confidence and an indefatigable determination.
The interview is a success. Maya passes the ultimate test. Dona Esmeralda knows in her heart that Maya is indeed the right woman for her son. However, as her personality dictates, Dona Esmeralda will only reveal her true feelings about Maya when she thinks it is the appropriate time. She must maintain her reputation as the overbearing matriarch of the family. She will hold on the fraction of the power she used to have at her disposal. She will savor the short time that she still can exercise her role as the family grande dame for she knows that her time is numbered and this may be the last time that she will ever have this chance to feel like the queen that she used to be. I agree on your assessment on what is going on with Cho. The poor guy has to contend with pressure from both ends, at school and at home. The writers really need to resolve this issue soon. It has gone on far too long. Hopefully, they will give some more coverage in what is going on in San Nicolas soon.
I have a suggestion for a scene. Cho will call Maya since he does not know who else to turn to. Maya somehow will get involved. Moreover, Dona E will take a trip to San Nicolas to continue her investigation on Maya. By doing so, she witnesses how the matriarchs and Kute will deal with the bullying problem. Dona E will then effectively learn where Maya’s roots come from and verify what she already knows. That Maya really is a real gem and that her son is the lucky one to have found her. But that is just my fertile imagination going again. ha ha ha

You are right that Nanay T’s sixth sense has been triggered. This is officially the start of the focus to resolving the bullying issue with Cho. I cannot wait to see how the creative team address it. I know that with their brilliant minds, they will deliver a successful resolution in the end so that there will be no lingering psychological damage on Cho and the bullies will be duly admonished and punished and parents will be involved in policing, as well. I am looking forward as to how the school is going to address this issue because Cho’s case is not an isolated bullying incidence. I am sure that there are other children in that school that is experiencing the same.
Kudos to the BCWMH creative writers for delving into such relevant social issues that our children are currently dealing with.
@Linda, I noticed it too, whenever SC is talking to Maya, his tone is much lower than his normal speaking voice, and he’s almost always sweet to his Mahal na Princesa but lately, seems like he’s extra sweet and would always want to see his Maya and spend time with her… is it near??? are we nearing the much awaited proposal???
And thank goodness, the creative team brought back the Cho issue… hopefully this issue will be resolved soon as this has been dragged for weeks now… Let’s hope that Cho will be able to go back to his old self and put this bullying issue behind him.Wawa naman si Pocholo…

The person that knows Dona Esmeralda the best is her son. Dona Esmeralda is so intimidating and so direct. It is so sweet how SC has been protecting Maya from his own mom. He even told his mom to go easy on Maya. That just shows how much he loves Maya. I especially liked the part where he said, “Whatever they think of you won’t change the way I feel about you.” eeeeeks! It is also funny because he is so worried about the lunch meeting. He is so cute! He is the kind of guy that can make a woman feel really safe and secure.
Regarding Maya’s wish that Dona Esmeralda will be as happy for them as her own mom, I think that is kind of impossible. Nanay Teresita and Dona Esmeralda are very different. I am pretty sure that both of them are loving but they both show their love differently. I prefer Nanay Teresita’s way better than Dona Esmeralda. I would have to say that Nanay Teresita (for me) is the epitome of an “ulirang filipinang ina.” I really love how she has brought up her kids very well, how she gives them great advice in a very loving way, how she shows her emotions and weaknesses to her kids, how she loves them unconditionally, how she taught them to be God-fearing, etc. I still don’t know much about Dona Esmeralda. From what i see, she is overly protective, she can be a bit controlling and she can be a bit intrusive. i have a feeling that those qualities that i mentioned are how she shows her love to her family. it seems like i now know where Nikki gets her attitude. hehehe!

A relationship that is strongly nurtured on love is destined to last for a very long time but real relationships take effort, time and commitment in the same way that great relationships don’t just happen because both love each other very much, for a great relationship happens because not only do two people love each other very much, they also value one another and are willing to make that investment of time into the relationship – day after day.
Richard and Maya fully understand what is expected to have that healthy and positive relationship; to make it stable and long-lasting for despite their hectic schedules, professionally and personally, they always make time to talk to one another, sending messages of love, checking up on each other every chance they get and see each other spending time together to keep the love burning and to nurture their relationship constantly. They both recognize that not all days will be full of romance; they are aware that rough roads are ahead but both commit to always talk about it, deal with it and work through it finding solutions, finding balance – together, united always. As you recall, yesterday’s episode ended at the restaurant when Maya was telling Dona E about how she found Abby at the conveyor belt. Dona E seemed annoyed at Maya when she asked if she was getting tired. Dona E didn’t realize that her continuous massaging of her shoulder makes Maya (and me too) feel uneasy because it does look like she is tired. She doesn’t know that Maya is very observant and she would never want to be the cause of someone’s discomfort. Therefore she wants to make sure everything is ok with her. Not knowing all this, Dona Esmeralda told Maya that maybe they can continue chatting some other time. Maya tried to tell her everything is ok and that she has the time. But Dona E insisted that she has bothered Maya enough. (Dona E you really are Dona Excuse Me)
At the high school, Joey arrived at the gathering for West Theatro. To Nikki’s surprise Joey looked different. (Wowza she looked hot and if I remember right, when we saw Joey last was when she was depressed from not making it to PUS and now she looked like hot tamale.) They were excited to see each other. Nikki told Joey she looked great. Joey explained that she needed a makeover and she hoped that she didn’t overdo it. Nikki said not at all. They exchanged more pleasantries and then got to work on the task at hand.

At the University, Luke and Nicolo attended the orientation of PUS Music and Sounds. The head of the organization (I think Nicolo said her name is Ange) said that they are the most prestigious organization in the entire university because this organization is unique in the sense that they allow the members who plays other instruments to showcase their musical talent. Nicolo looked around the room and noticed that almost all the girls were quietly looking at Luke. He teases Luke and said that he is a chick magnet. The girls are all swooning over him. Luke didn’t pay attention to the others except for Ange. Nicolo was eyeing the sidekick chick (can’t remember her name right now but give me a moment and I am sure it will come back to me). College campuses are not just where students obtain a degree that they hope will jump start their chosen careers in life. College campuses also offer the convenience for its students to explore their horizons, expand their social circles and safely conduct experimentation either in a laboratory or in a conservatory setting. The college-aged characters of our beloved drama now find themselves in this situation. Luke and Niccolo quickly realize that they are indeed in college and they have to primarily reestablish themselves.
Being a freshman, in college, or in anything, is essentially a free ticket to have a new start. It is a chance to reinvent oneself. It is a time to say goodbye to “the old”, and to welcome “the new”. It is an opportunity for a makeover. This could mean a change in wardrobe, adapt a new hairstyle, shrink into a smaller size or join social circles that otherwise one would not have even considered beforehand. In recreating oneself, a careful assessment is usually made. Likable attributes are definitely kept; old destructive habits are abandoned. Bad memories are acknowledged and quickly replaced with new and exciting adventures. Psychologically speaking, the old baggage, filled with hurt feelings and unwanted memories, is readily forsaken, in order to embrace and make room for new and happy experiences.
Luke and Niccolo quickly learn that college is indeed a smorgasbord of ideas and activities. It is incredibly replete with choices. They quickly discover that it is the ideal platform for dating. It is widely known, although not openly advertised, as a hotbed for coupling, literally and figuratively. Almost everyone in college is dating. If one is not, he is in danger of being considered a social pariah. Who needs match.com or e-harmony when college offers its own free dating service? It is one of the added benefits of attending classes in an institution of higher learning. The opportunity of meeting the one who will eventually become one’s lifetime partner is quite favorable in a college setting. That person may just be taking the same classes, living in the same dormitory, commuting on the same bus, being a member of the same social club or frequenting the same cafeteria or the same section of the library.
Luke and Niccolo, initially find themselves unable to make a decision which social club to join. Finally, they decide to join the glee club because the pretty girls that are organizing it are quite enticing. They essentially acknowledge that they are ready to try something new when they signed up. Niccolo is definitely ready to move on from his brief romantic stint with Aira. Luke seems to be entertaining the idea of looking at pretty girls again after his most recent heartbreak. At least that is what he thought until he saw Joey again.
Joey is indeed a sight to behold. Her new transformation into a rocker chick is met with mixed reviews. She definitely “looks gorgeous” as Nikki described. Niccolo is momentarily stunned. Initially, Luke seems shocked, until his old feelings of love for her flooded back, and then is swiftly replaced by the hurt she inflicted upon him, when she called it quits between them. Understandably, Luke is still nursing a broken heart and does not know how to process Joey’s sudden re-entry into his life. He basically still loves her but he also wants to move on with his life.
Freshmen are generally willing to try new things, welcome new ideas and experiment with their new found freedom to express themselves. College offers them a safe environment where can they grow, learn a new skill that will help prepare them to enter the labor market, cultivate the craft that will ultimately be the source of their livelihood and nourish the new individual that they will eventually present to the world when they graduate. Hopefully, the new identity that they will have created, after they have earned their degree, is one that will proudly take his place in society and make a considerable contribution for the betterment of the world in which he lives in. But for now, these freshmen have to step back, cautiously make their decisions knowing that these decisions will largely affect their future. Who they date and learn to love now, may someday become their spouses. Luke and Niccolo primarily just need to take their time and not promptly rush into anything. After all, they do agree that “patience is a virtue.”

today’s episode is a mixture of a lot of things…so many happenings all at the same time. i told myself to remain
focused…bcwmh is essentially the love story of SC and maya… so i should, as much as possible, pick a song that
will highlight what transpired between the two of them. i therefor got my inspiration from SC saying to maya that he
misses their “we” time together. maya it seems is spreading herself too thin already that he’s looking for their
alone time even if it is just for an hour.
the song “THE TWO OF US” is from “Seawind”, a jazz fusion group from Hawaii, featuring lead singer Pauline Wilson.
they disbanded in the early 80s after releasing 4 albums to their name (2 of which were released only in japan). the

Dona Esmeralda shared with Don Roberto that Maya does not seem to run out of something to say, napalaban siya sa kadaldalan ni Maya. Don Roberto reminded her that Richard told them that Maya is really ma-kwento.
Definitely this episode is a nice feel one, SC is becoming so sweet and very spontaneous super kilig moments nila ni Maya. It is not just the calls and text but now the endearments are felt and notice no more “too” when Sir Chief says ILY. The airport scene was another moment, Sir Chief misses their alone time “kahit one hour lang” Hay Maya, look what you’ve done, even Sir Chief has to have his “moments” na, di lang si Abby, at hindi lang ikaw, pati na si Sir Chief.
Oh, Abby is still quarantined, and bored, and itchy smelly na. So call to Ate Maya is the only solution for her….And true to form, Maya compromises and gives Abby a quick freshening up. Naku Doris, even you….talagang takot kayo kay Dona Esmeralda ano.
Luke’s reaction is normal, tho nawala ata ang manners; nary a nod of the head, considering that Joey stepped forward with Nikki towards them. Nikki on the other hand is affected by Nicolo’s bragging conversation with Luke that they will make “ligaw” since they have joined the Glee Club.
Dining room scene, Sir Chief again is showing how protective he is of Maya by holding her hands and responding to his mother directly that they had early dinner.
Waiting for something to happen. San Nicolas – Cho situation and Dona Esmeralda’s condition……that would somehow involve Maya…..
I like your shorthand summary version. It is also interesting that you think Luke lost his manners when he saw Joey. I think he essentially was in shock and disbelief. He probably wished she was just an apparition. I am looking forward to the creative writers unfolding their plan for these two. I am sure there is still some strong romantic undercurrents there. Another sub plot in the making.

It doesn’t matter what the setting is, it’s the simple things they do and say to each other that makes us all fall in love all over again. At one point, we all scream for more PDA’s, but this is what makes this show unique, the creative team has kept it simple, wholesome and when it comes to PDA, there is always an element of surprise. When they look at each other, it seems like there is always something new that they see. Their kiss and hand holding is always nakaka kilig because it’s just the right amount and always done at the right time and the right place and with sincerity.

I love the fact that SC wants Maya for himself (in wanting to be alone with her) and not just for his children. At least in this way, he is saying na he loves Maya for herself and not just for the things that Maya could do for his family.
Now About the show and the teaser…I prefer the way the De La Rosa handling Cho’s problem than SC handling Nikki’s dilemma. The De La Rosa knew that there something going on but they letting Cho come to them and confide about what’s bothering him. They giving him space. I also like the mother mode of Nanay Tere about Maya’s meeting DE.
About the Teaser: I don’t like the way SC grab the phone from Maya that’s very disrespectful to Maya and Nikki. I know he is a concern parent but that’s not the way you handle a situation that’s so rude and uncalled for.
I like DE as the catalyst of the Lim’s household. I like the actress playing her she’s very good. Oh and BTW she look likes more Maya’s mother they have similarities.

I love the fact that SC wants Maya for himself (in wanting to be alone with her) and not just for his children. At least in this way, he is saying na he loves Maya for herself and not just for the things that Maya could do for his family.

i hope that don roberto will play a key role in making sure that there will be harmony in the lim’s household. he will be the neutralizer between SC & dona esmeralda (especially when richard continues to show his parents that he will defy them if they get in the way of his relationship with maya). don roberto’s analysis of maya is very objective. so, i like him.
my favorite part in this episode is when Maya put Abby on speaker phone. para na nga talaga silang one happy family. medyo nagseselos yata si SC kasi mukhang mas-malakas si abby kay maya kaysa kay SC. lol! eeeks! hay naku, maya! i am sure that SC would want you to come home with him everyday kung puwede lang. eeeek! magpakasal na kasi kayo! hehehe!
So yung gelfren ay sosyal na tawag din?

AT SI JOEY…WAGAS ang MAKEUP. Di naman masyadong na-excite sa pag curl ng hair at ang makeover lang parang sya yung iniwan at di ang nang-iwan. Di ko type! Nagkaron kaya ng BFF na baklang parlorista sa kanto. Di ko pa rin ma-gets ang kanyang character. Sana lang meron connect pagsulpot at ang storyline nya kina Luke or sa main story dahil para sa kin waste of time pa rin. Nothing personal pero hindi talaga swak saking panlasa si Joey.

Before I will give my two cents about the show today let me compliment JSM beauty first. That woman face is gorgeous hindi nakakasawang tignan ang mukha the longer you stare at her the prettier she gets. Simple but so beautiful. I saw a lot of beautiful women here in U.S but JSM beauty amazes me.
Now About the show and the teaser…I prefer the way the De La Rosa handling Cho’s problem than SC handling Nikki’s dilemma. The De La Rosa knew that there something going on but they letting Cho come to them and confide about what’s bothering him. They giving him space. I also like the mother mode of Nanay Tere about Maya’s meeting DE.
About the Teaser: I don’t like the way SC grab the phone from Maya that’s very disrespectful to Maya and Nikki. I know he is a concern parent but that’s not the way you handle a situation that’s so rude and uncalled for.
I like DE as the catalyst of the Lim’s household. I like the actress playing her she’s very good. Oh and BTW she look likes more Maya’s mother they have similarities.
Wag na maghanap ng iba, si Inigo na lang… mabait na sya di ba?
He’ll join the re-staging of florante at laura then start a good friendship with nikki, kahit friends lang sila, pang-asar lang kay niccolo, yung tipong a helping hand to nikki sa west teatro kc busy na sa banda ang dating president.
